Went to Fairbanks to visit the Ice Carving Championships. My company works with Pike's so it made since to see what they were all about, thinking that the pleasure trip would turn towards one of business. Thankfully it turned to be all pleasure. It was a full house but the staff at check-in still seemed upbeat and friendly. The front desk agent took the time to tell us where things were in town using one of the map handouts they had. She told us about their shuttle even though we had our own vehicle to get around. The great check-in was topped off with a free ice cream token for each of us.
The good things didn't stop at the Ice cream, later in the evening we ventured in to the steam room. Make sure you don't miss out on the steam room! Bring a bathing suit! We were the only ones in there so we had plenty of room, I could see it getting crowded if more people knew it was there, but luckily there isn't big flashy sign announcing it. It is easy to locate, pretty much right across the elevator on the second floor.
The rooms where mostly average. I was in a Chena View Room with two queen beds. It had the industry standard cable TV. Wifi worked on my laptop but was a bit slow, I think that was just because of how many guests there were. One thing that stood out was the body wash they had in each room. It actually smells like something you might by for yourself. It had a gentle mint scent. The shampoo and conditioner had mint as well but that was a bit over powered by rosemary, not one of my favorites. They also had simple shoe shine kit which for me was a nice touch, though I cant imagine many people caring about a polish while in Alaska.
I did wake up a bit later than planned so I was only able to get a partial breakfast, but it was still great. I really liked being able to make myself a waffle with whipped cream.
After check out we let ourselves be know to the staff as business partners and we were able to get a walk-through. We found out about their fitness room which was a decent size for an Alaska hotel, it had a large flat screen so you could catch up on shows while running or peddling to your hearts content. We went to some of the other room types, it would have been nice to have a Jacuzzi room with the king size bed but I think the two queens in the view room were nice too.
If I'm ever back in Fairbanks I will be staying at Pike's again.
We got to see the outside of the Cabin Rooms, I think the rooms in the main lodge, thanks to the pro...

Hello and thanks for the review! I agree the steam room is great. Since we've added the aromatherapy steam room (lavendar is most popular followed by Eucalyptus), the use is way up. I am glad that you like the ice cream cone. I have a sweet tooth so have one whenever I stay. Did you try the cookies at the front desk? We were having a run on them the last couple of weeks.
