This hotel is located in a lovely spot that could have made a great base for exploring the town/area. However, our first impression was dashed as the hotel is quite worn and tired and it and our room was VERY dirty (there was visible dirt left standing in our bathtub and large deposits of hair were left on the floor, vanity top, and toilet - yeeech!). It was too late to do anything about our filthy room as we checked in late so we grumbled our misfortune, took it, and requested the Housekeeping Supervisor check our room the next day. The next evening when we return from a day of touring, our room was still filthy. I talked with the Housekeeping Supervisor and asked her to come and inspect our room again. She did check and agreed it was dirty; she stated that young people today are a problem as they just can't be expected to do good work?!? After this, our second complaint, the Supervisor cleaned our room herself with one of her employees. The room was OK after this third effort. The hallway carpets were stained and dirty and needed vacuuming (we didn't see anyone clean any common areas during the three days we were there). Walls are dirty and worn.

The property is quite large and it is a rather long walk from one end to the other. If your room is in the end of one of the wings you will walk A LOT as you must enter via the main doors (you can exit the building by your room but you cannot enter the building there). We couldn't understand why such a large hotel only had such a small business center located in such a poor area (two computers located on the lower floor behind the laundry - long walk from the front desk). My wife and I did not utilze any of the on-property dining options. The rooms are large.

We were in Fairbanks as part of a cruise tour with princess. We flew in a night earlier and stayed 3 nights at the lodge. It was not at all what I thought it would be. Picture a motel 6 by the interstate for truckers. The rooms were very outdated, old furniture and carpets. The service was ok, nothin to complain about. Princess really needs to update the place.

Although I was travelling solo I was given a large room with 2 queen beds and a great view of the Chena River (which I requested in advance). The bar food was good and inexpensive. There is a hotel shuttle which if free can take you wherever you need to go.

The Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge is a couple minutes from the Airport, on the banks of the Chena River. It has ample free parking, with plug-ins at every parking spot for plugging the car in during the winter months to keep the block from freezing. It's easy to get to. The hotel itself is very nice. The foyer/check in area is gorgeous with Alaskan accents. It has a nice gift shop, an upscale restaurant and bar on the main floor, and my room was attractive and comfortable. You will have to ask for a room on the River side. If you get a room on the other side, your view will likely be of the airport and the road.

  • Liked — Location, cleanliness, internet access.
  • Disliked — Sidewalk was very slippery and should have had sand put down.

Stayed here as part of a conference hosted at the hotel. The hotel's location more or less right across the highway from the Fairbanks Int'l Airport made its location ideal for the conference we were participating in.

As a guest, I was impressed by the hotel in that I had a deluxe room that was about as big as a basketball court. It was clean, quiet and very modern etc compared to some other comments posted re room decor. The bed was very comfortable and slept well. Restaurant food was very good and seemingly in line with prices at town restaurants (i.e., the Pumphouse Restaurant). Same for the giftshop - in fact t-shirts were cheaper priced than most (guess will see how well they wear/launder to see if I got my $$ worth there).

As part of the seminar, found their conference facilities to be plenty adequate - big bright rooms, good audio/visual support etc and their catering staff worked their tails off getting meal to seminar participants, setting up room properly for sessions, etc.

Bottom line, I was impressed and I'd be back.

  • Liked — Room comfort
  • Disliked — Really can't complain about anything.
