“If you're in the area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Not to knock this place, but it's only about 5 minutes worth of time. Now, if you like engineering feats, then go. Think of it as a rest stop on the side of the road with some information plaques mounted for you to read. The history is neat and it is a man-made wonder, but not sure why all the environmentalist were opposed to it back in the 70's.

“touch the pipeline”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

this is a pull off on the steese highway near fox just north of Fairbanks. you get to see a good length of the pipeline above ground and it is low enough where you can actually touch it. there is a very informational board in the pull off that tells you many interesting facts about the pipeline which gives you a much better understanding of this marvel

“one of the only places where you can actually touch the pipeline”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

On the Steese Highway near the village of Fox, there is an area where you can not only get a sense of the enormity of the pipeline project but also touch the pipeline itself. I though for sure that no one else would be interested but there were probably fifteen cars stopped in the rest area. It includes an excellent display of how the pipeline works, why it was built and where it goes.

“Great Info”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

This area is just outside Fairbanks. Hard to believe that the pipeline covers such a distance. Information around the site provides details on the development and maintenance of this landmark. Worth the drive from Fairbanks to check it out...probably can scope out the area in 30-45 min.

“Awesome!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Nice posters that describe the pipeline's history and how it works. Having worked for an oil company in the past may have made it much more exciting for us, but we loved it.
