“How can this just be # 31 !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Wow -- tough reviewers ! This Chef owned and second generation operator is clearly a local favorite. Every national chain is within several miles of this downtown treasure. They offer a unique breadth of items on the menu. You don't often see Eggs Benedict, Baby Beef Liver, fresh Place and a variety of veal dishes all at very reasonable prices. The kitchen puts out an amazing quality of diverse items. Do yourself a favor and skip on by #1 - #30 and give this gem a try !

“WOW!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

What a great find for upscale dining in downtown Fredericksburg. I had lived here for 10 years over 10 yearsw ago, and never ate here, although I had heard of it. Besides the quality service and amazingly good food, it offered a prix fixe 5-course meal until 7 PM for only $23. I just hope I can get back again and again, Wonderful spot.

“Very consistent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

This is our "go-to" restaurant in Fredericksburg. The food is always scrumptious and it is very fairly priced along with the portions. The restaurant is divided into three areas: a lounge, an open dining area and a private room for small groups. The lounge is very eclectic in it's decorations which makes it interesting. The main dining room needs updating, it's decor needs help.
Regardless of the ambiance, the food makes it worthwhile. It is a blend of French-American cuisine that would please any palate. The entire restaurant is non-smoking which is a plus in my book!

“Poor Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

Plain and simple. A slow, arrogant hostess and inattentive waiter made for a horrible experience for average french food. I guess because this is the only French resturant in the area they feel that you owe them for being open. Specifically, the hostess did not greet us, she ignored us until we asked for her attention. She then passed several open tables to sit us at the back by the waiters station. I initially assumed that the other tables were reserved but when I asked to be reseated, I was directed to better tables. The waiter did not greet us for at least 10 minutes, after I flagged him as he walked by us for the fourth time trying not to make eye contact. The food was expensive and, at best, average.

“Great Value for a good French Meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

This restaurant has been in Fredericksburg for a long time. The ambience is nice and the tables are placed such that conversation is both easy and private. There are two dinner menus. The set price, 4-course, menu is available from 5:50 to 7:00 PM while the a la carte menu is always available. This time we selected the fixed price menu. For the first course, I had the tomato soup and my wife had salami and provolone with a side of mustard. Both were good. The house salad was under dressed so was not as tasty as expected. We had the trout and flank steak entrees. They were were tasty and filling. We both had the chocolate mousse for dessert. It was very good. Service was pleasant but not very attentive. All in all we had a great night out.
