“No great shakes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012 via mobile

We stopped in Fredericksburg for the night in route to upstate New York. We just wanted something casual a sandwich for him and a salad or something light for me. After reading the reviews for the Otter House. We choose it, the food was not terrible ,but it was pretty mediocre at best, and the drinks were watered down and a very light pour ( water and a splash of crown $ 8:00) and (3 oz of cheap chard $ 6:00) Need I say more

“Home to the Rabble Rousers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

The Otter House is a great little bar in Fredericksburg with a long line of history related to Mary Washington College. Back when it was the Irish Brigade in the late 80's and early 90's, it was the most popular spot in Fredericksburg. It has been updated with a new look that works very well.

Most importantly, this is where the Rabble Rousers (rock band that played together from 1987-1996) started their journey playing clubs. And they continue to play reunion shows there each June that guarantee a packed house and the best of times in Fredericksburg. Go check them out and other bands that play there.

Last Saturday night there were $1 beers at the bar. Are you kidding me? Great deal.

“Quiet place and very good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

Don't know why this place isn't busier, but the food is quite good...especially the specials, so take advantage of them.

“Good prices, great burgers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

Very good prices here for lunch or dinner. We had the bison burgers, and HUGE and flavorful. Had a coupon, and needed to spend $35 to use it, and were hard pressed for 2 of us to get the price UP to $35. Great onion rings, great burgers, enjoyed the spring rolls, fries were ok, preferred the onion rings. Very good waitstaff, very friendly and full of info. Also great crabcake sliders.

“I liked it but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

Nice admosphere, but I always love these old places in downtown F-Burg. Great staff and service, very helpful waitress with a nice personality. Nice selection of local and other microbrew draft beers; 70s funk playing on the sound system which didn't really fit the place but was nonetheless enjoyable. My wife's pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw was very good. The boardwalk fries likewise very good. I ordered one of the stuffed burgers with jalapeno and cheddar cheese. Guess what- no jalapenos available (on a Saturday at 4:00 p.m.) so I ordered it with hot banana peppers, lettuce, tomato, pickles but guess what- no pickles available. WTH. Juke box didn't work. The manager of this place should be fired, he's screwing the wait stafff and cooks. We ate downstairs, but later checked out the upstairs which was pretty cool, kind of a sports bar atmosphere. Live music starts at 9:30 p.m. and there's a four hour "progressive happy hour"...I get the impression this place turns into a loud, drunken college hangout at night.
