“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

We prepurchased our 4 night stay. Hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable. My favorite things...LOTS of electric outlets where you want them...desk, bedside, and bathroom. Bathroom counter was roomier than most. Lobby was comfortable. Coffee was good and plentiful.
Breakfast included most of the usual...but very heavy on carb-y stuff. Not quite as nice as some others, but certainly not a deal-breaker.
Only 2 complaints: 1. There seemed to be a constant stream of guests who arrived having confused the 2 local franchises - one in "Fredericksburg" and the other in "South" Fredericksburg. Desk staff were pretty much hands off in terms of trying to help out...even when 2 groups were at the desk at the same time with opposite mix-up...could EASILY have helped both parties with one fix...but refused to even deal with it. A bit disconcerting since one family was there for a funeral and one for a sick relative. If you book on line or prepay be REALLY REALLY SURE because they will not help you out if something goes wrong.
2. Also, we learned after we arrived that if you get a AARP or AAA discount on the room, you will not get the Carlson Hotels frequent stay credits...no big deal...but seemed sort of chintzy to me.

This is a well run location of this national chain. The staff were very helpful. The free breakfast was very nice. There is some road waork going on out front that looks like it is a major project bu i didn't experience any noise, dust, or other inconvenience related to this activity. You just need to be on the lookout for the entrance amongst the barriers and moving equipment.

The hotel was neat, clean, with friendly staff. The breakfast was good and it was fresh. The room was BEDBUG FREE and there were no reports of any problems with Bedbugs. This is our first criteria in selecting a hotel. The lady that was doing breakfast held her own and delivered the goods in spite of the fact that we outnumbered her by many.

I have stayed at this hotel twice in the past 6 weeks. Everyone was helpful and friendly on the staff. The breakfast setting in very good. With a one week stay it was nice to see the selection varied a bit each day and hot items were.

I have stayed here several times on business trips and find the accommodations enjoyable. The staff was friendly and the room was large. They serve breakfast in the morning. A self serve usually consisting of eggs, sausage, gravy, biscuits and a waffle machine. They also have cold cereals, yogurt, and assorted breads and pastries. The indoor pool was nice as well as the work out equipment. Also, the room is quiet and you do not hear much from outside the hallway or outside either. The only downside is there is no entrance from one side of 17 (if you are making a left onto the property) but you can the uturn is not that far down so it was not a big deal. Plus they are currently working on the road and I imagine they will be putting in a turn lane into the property. They also have computers and free wifi so you can work in your room or in their office area.

First let me say that I hate to give this place a bad review because the room itself was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. The lobby area was also very nice, parking was plentiful, and the wi-fi worked great. The housekeepers should be commended for their work.

My husband and I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and waited more than 10 minutes to check in, even though there were two people working the desk and only one family ahead of us. Once we finally got the key to our room, we hauled our stuff upstairs and walked in. I immediately noticed a pair of shoes on the floor, then suitcases -- they had given us the key to someone else's room! We immediately left and returned to the desk. The woman waiting on us made a joke of the whole situation, replying, "Well at least you didn't walk in on anybody naked!" Maybe it was the fact that we were coming from a long drive but we failed to see the humor. She called another staff member over (a male) and he tried insisting that the room was ours. It took another 10 minutes before we were given a key to a new room. They seemed clueless. I realize this was just an isolated incident but the staff was not concerned, which made me wonder how often this happens. We went to dinner that night and returned to the room early because we didn't trust letting our stuff there. I think maybe the worst thing is that the people whose room we mistakenly entered didn't even know about it; we are honest people but they may not have been so lucky.

Once we did get settled into our room I heard some commotion in the hall... Apparently the people across from us were given a room key that didn't work so they had to go back to the desk.

I have never had an issue with Country Inn & Suites at any other location. I'm also a Club Carlson member. Needless to say I was disappointed in this hotel and will not be returning.

If you're traveling along Route 95 and are somewhere in Fredericksburg area I would recommend the Country Inn & Suites as a quality quick stop. Near major restaurants and close to downtown Fredericksburg which is an advantage because of the better restaurants there
