“Whale of a Tale”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2011

I'm conflicted. If I tell you how great Oishii is, that means we'll all be waiting longer for a seat. But hey, Ting and Jackie have held down this corner of Hammond and Route 9 east since the '90s and they just keep getting better. So yes, it's great, it's friendly, it's fresh, it's cozy, it's crowded and it never disappoints. Fish, it's what's for dinner.

Eat fish just for the halibut? Of course.

“West coast sushi Back East!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2010

Finally--awesome sushi right here in Chestnut Hill. After moving to MA from Cali two years ago, we longed for the taste and style of a great, intimate sushi bar. After several limp experiences as well as the bigger Boston-style "crunchy" (i.e. deep fried style rolls), we finally hit the jackpot: Oishii is petite, well-trimmed, with a professional sushi staff and a wide array of fish. For a small place, they prepare the fish extremely quickly, and the presentation is high-quality and unique. Their fish and presentation is second to none in Boston. Love the salmon tartar on "chips." And they always have fresh uni and the freshest fish. Great for a date :)

“40$ kobe steak smaller than my credit card”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2009

My boyfriend knows I love sushi (he hates it) so he bring me to this place based on some reviews he read online (and thats why Im posting this one!). The place had ok food but ridiculously priced and I wont even get into the confort (rather lack of) that tiny place could offer. I get some ok sushi and the mr gets ''kobe steak'', the waitress even asks him how would he like it cooked. She comes back with this huge wooden plate with a strawberry nicely cut in a decorative way, some wasabi and in the middle of it, a small ceramic plate about the size of my credit card containning 6 or 7 sad looking morsels of meet. That was suppose to be the steak, bon appetit!
