“The new "best restaurant in Brookline"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

If you are dining out in Brookline, simply put: this is the place. All ages, all appetites. Food and service outstanding. Ask for wine tastes if you're not sure. Waitstaff give great recommendations for every course. be prepared for healthy amount of chatter, but it's worth it. Eat the bread, soak up the rich, fragrant oil olive. Be transported to Spain for the night and come back again.

“We wish them much success”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

There have been three other restaurant on this site in the past few years, none of them memorable. We were there last week and without a reservation we had to wait 40 minutes for a table. The music was a bit loud but the service was extremely courteous. The bread tasted home baked, the wine list with good Spanish and a dash of Portuguese vintages (even Setubal, a wonderful dessert wine). All our food, cheese, salami, chicken and ham, scallops were 1st quality.
Because we waited so long for a table we were given a token for a free tapas for our next visit, which will happen before too long. This is a real asset for the neighborhood and a cut above the other tapas bars in Brighton/Brookline.

“Pricey but Delicious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

I heard that this place just opened, so my boyfriend and I checked it out on a Saturday night. We got there around 5:45 knowing that without reservations it would get busier as the night went on. When we arrived there were a good amount of tables open, and we were seated right next to the cheese counter by the kitchen with only a table to our right, not to our left as we were on the end. Instead of speaking up and asking for another table, we stuck with our table since the other 2 seater tables are only about a foot apart from one another so at least we were no sandwiched between other people. The downside to this was that since we were on the end, there is a high volume of traffic with the wait staff going back and forth. They also took our coats, so that was nice instead of having them hang on the back of our chairs.

We ordered Chacuteria for 3, 2 cheeses: Valdeon, and Drunken Goat, and Jamon Serrano. Boyfriend like the ham a lot (I don't eat it), and the cheeses were nice. The Valdeon is for blue-cheese lovers, and the drunken goat is a bit milder.

We also got an order of Crudo with scallops, Patatas Bravas, Hanger steak, and crispy calamari. Our favorite was definitely the hanger steak, cooked medium rare and very tender. The others were pretty good. My boyfriend had the Cerro Anon for his wine and I had white sangria, both very tasty.

The manager was walking around and gave us samples of Jamon Iberico de Bellota. Boyfriend loved this and the manager was nice enough to give it him free of charge.

Overall the restaurant has a nice ambiance, but it was was a bit noisy and hectic at times. It is a bit pricy as well, so not a place to go if you are watching your budget.
