Ruth's Kitchen is a true "find." While in a commercial district which the Town of Brookline is trying to promote as "JFK Crossing," it's not in a hub area such as Coolidge Corner or Allston's Harvard/Comm Ave intersection but between them. They do a booming take-out and catering business, and there are a few tables for eating on-site as well. (BYOB, only water and sodas are available.) The proprietress, Ruth, is from Korea and converted to Judaism when she married her husband who was serving in the US Army there. Talk about the zeal of the converted - her food is always fresh and inexpensive and always so good! Being zero percent Jewish I can't attest to how kosher it is, but undoubtedly they go by the rules. With that in mind, be sure to get there well before 2 PM on a Friday and forget about Saturdays.
