The Kennedy home tour is in Brookline so it didn’t show up in the top things to do in Boston but I wish it would have! It is very easy to get to – take the Green Line T towards Cleveland center and get off at Coolidge. At this point it is a little tricky because it is not marked – but if you face the direction of the T towards Cleveland Center, you will turn right and walk down several blocks to Beals Street. (Just map to John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site, 53 Beals Street.) The guided tour lasts about 30 minutes; the young park rangers are very friendly and eager.
Important to note is that it is only open Wed – Sun, 9:30 – 5:00, and only from Memorial Day until Oct 31. The site doesn’t get much traffic; only 17,000 visitors per year. I was on the tour with a Kennedy groupie from Australia – her interest in our president gave the tour a good perspective for me.
