I have been staying at this property for many years. As stated above there are not many lodging choices in Rome. There is a brand new Wyngate Inn now open. It is a lot more expensive than the Quality Inn. The rooms here are old and in need of updating, the management does do a little work to the property every year, and I can see those changes from year to year. The big problem with the rooms, in my opinion, is this is a exterior corridor property, meaning when you walk out of the room you are outside. This is true except for a few rooms in a enclosed building. Because of this the carpets get dirty very quickly and the property does not shampoo them on a regular basis.
The location is good, but Rome is small so everything is close by.
The Dennys restaurant is old and run down but still is very popular with the locals. I dont eat there so I cannot comment about the food.

I was TOTALLY shocked! I didn't expect the rooms to be so nice! The room was clean but also decorated beautifully, Nice bedding, and a refrigerator, microwave and FREE internet (I had to pay $10 a daY when I stayed at a Marriott. We were facing the pool (outdoor) and had our own private little balcony! The mattresses MUST be new, I think they were the new memory ones, I slept so good.I was sorry our group was moving on to another town, I would have loved to stay another night just for the beds, They had a 24 hr Denny;s right there and we got 10% off our breakfast. And the hotel clerk told us about a really great family restaurant in walking distance (the Franklin) It was really good food and at a great value. Fort Stanwix is right across the street (we hadn't planned to go, but cause it was RIGHT across the street we did)

Thank you so much for your kind words.
We have been making upgrades to our hotel with renovations both inside and out!

One of the improvements has been all new bedding and linens, new carpeting and upgrades to 32" flat screen televisions. We have also added cozy recliners in our King rooms!

Please come and visit us again when you are in the area!

We were in town visiting a friend when I called to make a reservation for that same evening. My husband did not want to stay there since they have no smoking rooms at all. I called back to cancel 10 minutes later and was told by the owner/manager that I needed to cancel 24 hours in advance. I told him that was impossible since I had just made the reservation 10 minutes before. He told me that his employee that answered the phone informed me of the cancellation policy. I told him that I was never informed of the cancellation policy. He responed , "Yes, you were. She told me that she told you." Again I told him that I was not informed and he said to me, " Well, People lie when they don't want to pay." WHAT??? I again told him that I wasn't informed of the policy and he said to me, " Can you produce a recording that proves she didn't say it?" I asked him to produce a recording that proves she did. He told me that it didn't matter because he wasn't cancelling the reservation and he would charge me wether I stayed there or not. I then asked for the 800 number for Choice Hotels and he gave it to me but added, "They will just call me and I will not give you your money back."

This man was very rude and just would not listen to any type of reason. He also told me that all hotels have that same policy, which I know is smply not true. I felt as though he was treating me like I had no clue as to how things work.

We did end up staying there and the rooms were fair. The beds were comfy, but the room was not clean. The platform the the fridge sits on looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in years. The tub had rust around the drain and the faucet in the tub leaked and it couldn't be turned off.

I plan on visiting Rome, New York again, but never would I stay at this hotel simply because of the way I was treated. I did file a formal complaint with Choice Hotels and I urge everyone else to do the same if need be.

I also urge everyone not to book any hotel directly through the property; do it online or through the company's 800 number. I would have gotten my money back if I would have done it that way. Live and learn.

This place was beyond disgusting. The staff was ignorant of all attractions nearby including the fort directly across the street from the property. The room, oh how to describe the filth. The tub was covered in cigarette burns, there were hairs on the toilet seat, a colony of ants were living under the garbage can, I found a white "substance" dripping down the comforter and we found a 1/2 eaten slice of pizza under the bed. The walls are so thin we could hear everything going on in the adjoining rooms and when someone opened their doors it sounded like there was someone trying to open ours. The Denny's restaurant was a typical Denny's except for the day there was one waitress on staff with a full dining room. We were thankfully only there for a long weekend and didn't spend much time in the room but I couldn't wait to get home to shower and disinfect my clothes.

This hotel is very rude. We ended up cancelling our reservation the day before our intented stay due to sickness in the family. They stated to us that we would be liable for $25.00 per room for the cancellation. When I received my credit card statement they had charged the full price for a 1 night stay. When we called to resolve the situation we were told that we did not even cancel the room even though we had confirmation from them. The person we spoke with even admitted that they were sold out for that weekend so they did not even lose money. The hotel will not even discuss the situation and refuses to listen to reason.
