This is a great trolley ride that adults and kids will enjoy. It also connects (with short walks on each end) most of the main attractions that Fort Smith has to offer.
On the north end you can see the city's visitors center, which is a former bordello you can also tour. There is a small park at this trolley stop which leads you on a walk straight into the Fort Smith National Historic Site.
In the middle section of the route, there is the city museum, and the trolley repair shop, which contains railroad locomotives and cars you can walk around and see.
On the lower end of the route is the Fort Smith National Cemetery, containing some famous peoples' burial sites.
The trolley is more than just public transportation. You get narration by the drivers along the way. If they aren't busy, they may even stop the trolley in spots and explain the history of the area that would probably pass you by otherwise.
The trolley car I was on was made in 1926, and the route it takes runs about half a mile. It's a neat way to see Fort Smith, and to take a short rail ride.
