We (myself, my husband, and three boys--5, 9, 12) decided last minute to drive to Savannah for a few days before New Year's. So I quickly perused some sites on dining, wanting to make as many reservations as possible. I came upon 45 Bistro and went ahead with a reservation for New Year's Eve. I did make sure children were allowed, and I did review the menu to make sure it was to our liking.
Well, the night before my husband and I had drinks and appetizers at another restaurant. And to tell the truth, I tried to make reservations there--but they were booked. So I decided we'd stay with 45 Bistro, and we are so glad we did!
Of course we were running late, so I called and was told, "No problem." Whew!
When we arrived Danny immediately sat us at our table. The atmosphere was festive with balloons and party hats. Of course little guy put his right on. We ordered drinks and settled in. Bread and a pesto dip were brought to the table.
Here is what we ordered:
Baked Brie with salad--plenty for two or three
Pork chops with a coke/bourbon glaze--juicy and tender
Duck--my second son ate it all
Halibut with lobster risotto--our oldest ordered this with a side of potatoes but he did like the risotto as well
Rack of lamb--three nice sized chops, asparagus
All entrees had different vegetables that were fresh and well seasoned.
Creme brûlée--enough for two
Chocolate mousse--not too heavy
Pecan dessert--sweet but not too sweet
One can see that we ate well!
Although it's a bit pricey, portions are generous and service and quality are very good.
Danny was attentive, quick to accommodate the boys with different sides, our glasses were full, and we were never rushed.
As we left the restaurant, we saw that the bar was busy and nicely decorated. We wandered into the hotel, The Marshall House (the restaurant is located inside), and played a game of checkers!
It was a wonderful evening! Thank you!
