Went to 45 Bistro last night for an anniversary celebration. The room is real pretty, small and intimate, and the service was impeccable, attentive without being rushed or pushy. Danny, our server (who is also the manager) was very knowledgebale regarding both food and wine, and made some excellent recommendations. We started with escargots (not ususally my fave but my wife really wanted them) and they were the best escargots I think I have ever had. A generous portion, not in the shell, and the garlic/sundried tomato/herbed wine butter was delicious-- with fresh warm baguette to soak up the sauce. The beet salad was all beets, no lettuce in sight (I hate those beet salads that are all lettuce with a few slivers of beet) and some some crispy pralined walnuts to add some crunch to the beets. A great combo. My wife's filet steak , ordered blue rare, was done to perfection and also a very generous portion. My grouper was cooked just right, flaky without being undercooked. And although it might be on the pricey side, we felt the prices were both reasonable and well worth the splurge. Overall an exceptional evening of fine dining in a handsome room with great service. What could be a better way to spend one's anniversary?
