“Great staff, comfy but small rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

This hotel had some real positives. Handy location to downtown, great staff, good breakfast choices and comfortable, clean (but small) rooms.

We loved miss Beverley, the breakfast server. Mangement, if your are reading this, give her a pay rise & a bigger kitchen!

Some negatives were, the bizare position of the one elevator, between the double door airlock arrangement at the main entry. This often created a bottle neck with guests arriving & departing trying to get past others waiting for the slow elevator. The smallish breakfast room was also the cause of a little inconvenience with the size of this hotel.

Our room was small, but comfortable. Open hanging space next to a vanity/wash basin. The bathroom was also small.

I booked this hotel online based on other reviews. We were not disappointed. The room was clean and ready, but the smoke detector battery alarm was beeping when we opened the door. A call to the front desk brought the facility engineer who quickly replaced the old with a new battery. The next morning we had a hand written note on the door apologizing for the inconvenience.

The staff also helped with attractions to see and local nearby restaurants. And our breakfast was blessed by the very hospitable Ms. Beverly, the hostess and chef.

Room Tip: Check bed corners to tug sheets tightly onto mattress.... Ours came off when rolling over in the mid...

Took a trip to visit Savannah for the first time. I tried to get a room in the downtown district but they was sold out or too expensive. So I read the reviews and tried Fairfield Inn Midtown. I had been to several Fairfield Mariotts before. Well here are my thoughts..The staff is great..Stephen the front desk manager is great. Being my first time in Savannah he directed me to some of the places to eat and how to get around in the downtown district..The buffet in the morning was nice with a variety of breakfast food. The attendant there was friendly also and kept the people well served. Now the other thought.....I was on the second floor with fridge and microwave. The room is small along with small bathroom but clean. The walls are thin,,someone in the room above was walking all night..the fridge was roaring all night..and there was a knock from the tv i think...that made a loud noise every so often through out the night, This is a older Fairfield..Im really used to the more updated Fairfields..But I can say the staff do make up for it in service and friendliness.

Room Tip: Fridge make noise coming on and off

Not often you stay at a hotel ( unless it is a Fairmont) and the staff ( all the staff) make you feel appreciated, but the folks at this Fairfield do an outstanding job. This is an older hotel but the room was very clean and functional. The building is not one of their newer designs and our room opened to the outside which was rather nice. The rooms are relatively small ( not New York City small, but not the normal size in the newer Fairfield design) but the price and the staff more than make up for it. The owner ( I assume the owner ) was in the snack area at 6 pm and he was there for breakfast at 6 am making sure everything was in order. Very hands on. They came by with a trolley with lots of snacks and non alcoholic refreshments about 7:30pm which was a nice touch. On this trip we stayed at over 10 properties and this was the cheapest. Usually that can be a huge red flag, but the reviews of this property were great so I booked it - we were not disappointed. Breakfast was the normal high carb Fairfield fare and the breakfast room was small ( this hotel was built before the free breakfast amenity) but the great people and great value more than make up for any of the minor inconveniences.
There is a military base close by and the shot off a cannon ( not that loud - I was outside loading the car - you would not hear it inside) at 6:30 then played reveille and the national anthem which was kind of neat as well.

Room Tip: Maybe get the ground floor with an outside door - parking is close to the door

I had to travel to Savannah for business for a week and couldn't have found a better Hotel in the area.
The room was nicely appointed, comfortable, and came with a very good free breakfast each morning, served by some of the friendliest folks I had the pleasure of meeting while in Savannah.
I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone travelling to Savannah, these folks truly exhibit Southern hospitality!

Stayed here last night. Quiet, clean and friendly staff. The price was very reasonable at $79. I was going to stay at the Residence Inn next door for $129 per night. Looking forward to exploring Savannah after a great night's sleep.

When we arrived we were greated very warmly. We arrived early, around 1pm and didn't expect our room would be ready but it was. The room has a small fridge and a microwave. The hotel offers a free breakfast but the days we were here a free supper was also offered. The first night there was lazagna and potatoe soup plus a salad every night. The second night hot dogs ans hamburgers plus the salad. Pretty good for free.
The location is great too. Only 10 mins from the river walk and 30 min to tybee island. This hotel is a good value for the price. We would stay here again. Terrific staff.
