My husband and I planned a trip to Savannah for our 7th wedding anniversary. We also have a 3 month old son who was accompanying us on this trip.
Unfortunately, I had read the reviews of this hotel AFTER I had already booked my room, but since most of the reviews were old, I figured maybe the hotel had cleaned up it's act. I was wrong!
We arrived in Savannah about 1pm and I called the hotel to ask if we could get an early check in. They informed me that they didn't even have me down for a reservation even though I had prepaid for my hotel online. It took her about 5 minutes to finally find it and said, 'sure come on in, there isn't any rooms available, but come in anyways'
When we got into the room, my husband pointed out the room smelled of mold. We looked around, but couldn't find the source of the mold. Later that evening, I had taken a bath in the jacuzzi tub only to find after I had let the water out that there was mold everywhere in the tub. It had come from the jets.
At midnight, I was awoken to hear what I thought were our neighbors fiddling with their door and talking. This went on for about 5 minutes. I finally got up and looked out of the peephole only to find them at OUR door! I cracked open the door and asked what they were doing. The woman looked shocked and held up her key and said they had given them this room. I went back to bed and 5 minutes later our phone rang. It was the front desk asking "who are you and why are you in that room" My husband said because you told us to go to this room and gave us a key earlier! Of course by now we were both wide awake as well as our 3 month old son!
By the time morning came we were willing to forget the entire thing, as we were only there for the weekend and didn't want to take the time to fight with them.
After returning later that afternoon to our hotel, we found our keys not working and of course all of our stuff was still inside.
We went to the front desk and they had a few good excuses like 'the maid's key resets the locks when they leave' We laughed and informed her this was not our first hotel visit and that the maids key does not do that otherwise everytime the maid would clean a room, the guest would have to come to the front desk.
We then asked for our money back for that night, we were going to go to another hotel. The girl said 'it's 3 oclock, you should have checked out at 11' My husband recounted for the girl all that happened and they finally agreed to refund the night that we weren't staying.
So needless to say we left, stayed at a beautiful hotel right across the street and will NEVER be using this hotel again!
