“Very Good Location - Staff excellent and helpful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2010

My wife and I stayed at the Hampton June 13 thru June 15.
Cost was approximately $159 + $15 parking per day - tried various places but no discounts - Staff stayed they almost always were full so could be reason no discounts.

The room we had was on the River Side of the Hotel so we had good view of the River area. It was well appointed and very comfortable.
The biggest plus was its location - we could walk everywhere - most historical section was in a square mile of the hotel. Entertainment and Restaurants were very close.

Breakfast Buffet was Eggs/Omlets with some sort of meat, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee and bread products.

We at a big breakfast and then walked around the area - because of the heat -102 90-95%humidity - we were out 10 -2pm and then relaxed in our hotel.

Staff were great on places to eat and go. They offered advise freely if asked. Sunday night, the bell boy(??) , she brought up our luggage and asked were someplace to eat. She suggested Tubby's which was just a on block from the Hotel on the River. She also said if you order the seafood combo, only order 1 because it feed too.

Concierge, at hotel, was helpful but tended to steer you to places which had a special relationship with Hotel.

Pool is on top of roof and due to 100+ temp and little shady, it was very hot to walk on pavers if you did not have flip-flops or something else.

The Holiday Inn Express, across the street, was a sister property. If you wanted to use their larger pool which had more umbrellas etc, you could.

Did not do fitness room - didn't have much equipment anyway.

This hotel is beautiful with a great location. It's right off of Oglethorpe and MLK. You can walk about 2 blocks and be on Broughton and another 2 blocks would put you on River St. Great for a tourist that doesn't want to fight the parking situation in Savannah.

We chose this hotel because it had the most reasonable prices for parking. You have to pay for parking at almost every hotel in Savannah and this was the most economical choice. The rooms are lovely and clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The only downside would be how incredibly packed this place was. It's tourist season in Savannah so it makes sense that a beautiful hotel in a great location will be busy but if you want to move at a slower place, maybe find a hotel further out or find a B&B. We had to fight for breakfast in the morning (which is complimentary) because there were so many families in the breakfast room. Often we had to park toward the back of their parking lot in order to find a space, but overall it was worth it!

The Hampton Inn located on Bay Street in the Historic District of Savannah was a perfect location for celebrating our first anniversary. The location of the hotel was perfect, everything we needed was within walking distance and Tybee Island was a short drive away.
We arrived at the Hampton Inn around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday June 12th and even though we were early they allowed us to check in. The staff upon arrival was quick to greet us with smiles and hellos. The check in portion was the only slight downer that we experienced due to the Service manager who seemed to be annoyed and did not explain to us where the pool was located (Pool is located on the roof and has and awesome view) and what time breakfast would be served. (His co-worker next to him did that for two guests arriving) We were able to upgrade to a King Size bed which was a plus for us.
We went to the fifth floor to go to our room and before we could open the door Patricia the custodian working that floor greeted us with a big hello and asked if we needed anything. We would see Patricia multiple times during our stay and she was very friendly each time and helpful with directions.
Once we arrived in our room we loved how much space there was and it was very clean. The King Bed upgrade was a great idea because it sure was comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious and clean and the hotel offered complimentary toiletry packs if items were left at home.
The absolute best part of our Hotel experience was the concierge and her name is Mary. Mary was very friendly, approachable and received us with a nice smile. We asked about where some of the restaurant locations were and she was very knowledgeable. Mary asked what brought us to Savannah and we explained that it was our 1st anniversary. She was excited for us and took down our name. When we returned from enjoying the town we noticed that a bottle of champagne had been delivered to our room with two glasses along with a card from Mary. The next morning as we were leaving for the beach we saw that the lobby sign had our names on it and it said “Happy 1st Anniversary”. This made us feel really special and our trip was complete.
I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to getaway and relax.

Just recently visited Savannah for the first time and stayed at this hotel. This hotel is in a great location. Its one block from River Street and you can walk to all of the local attractions and restaurants. The valet service was very good. The view from the roof top pool is breathtaking. You can't beat the complimentary breakfast. It's by far the best. The downside..we found a roach in our batheroom in the morning.

Other than that, it was a great hotel.

This was a wonderful hotel for our 3 day stay. We received a good size king room facing Bay St. on the 5th floor. The room had a desk, sm. fridge, microwave, a coffee/ hot pot and a fairly large flat screen TV. The bathroom was updated with excellent lighting & a granite counter top. The sink had lots of counter space and a shelf underneath that was the length of the counter. One nice touch was a nite lite in the bathroom which was light activated & could be turned off if you didn't want it on. The overstuffed chair & ottoman in the room were very comfy.

Two small negative items were the smell of fragrance in the room when we checked in and we thought the tub a bit slippery when stepping in even though it had a special coating. There is a bar to on the wall to hold onto. As to the fragrance, I left a note each following day for housekeeping to not use fragrance for the rest of our stay and they did not!

The rooftop pool was great. The water was just the right temperature and there were nice lounge chairs. In the afternooons there was always a pitcher with water & orange slices and towels to cool off with after being out in the heat located just inside the main entrance. Farther in at the bar area there would be snacks like popcorn & cookies to munch on. Wine & beer were for sale at very reasonable prices.

Everyday we found the staff to be genuinely warm and ready to help. I'd definitely stay here again.

My husband and I, and my brother and sister-in-law, spent 3 nights at the Hampton Inn in early May. It was the perfect hotel for us, for many reasons--the location was SO convenient, across the street from the River Walk and within walking distance to many attractions; wonderful complimentary breakfast; comfortable and clean rooms; rooftop pool; nice features like complimentary coffee, fruit and cookies; and last, but certainly not least, a staff that couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. It was a pleasure
staying there in all respects, and we would definitely return.

Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant. No matter where you saw them, in the elevator, at the front desk, in the hall, or entering the hotel, everyone always spoke. The hotel is located in a great area.
