“Great Anniversary Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Great location with easy access to the Historic District and the Riverfront. The staff was excellent...from the front desk, to the maid service to the valet parking attendants. They were all very friendly, helpful and attentive. We were concerned at first given our room was faced East Bay with all the street traffic but the outside noise was minimal and didn't cause any sleep issues. Noise from above and from the hall did cause some sleep issues on the second night. The breakfast buffet was a little "underwhelming", so much so that on the second morning of our two night stay we considered going somewhere else for breakfast. But since it was raining we decided to eat at the buffet again. The rooms were a little dated and the doors to some of the rooms on our floor were chipped and worn. Overall, the Hampton was a nice nice place to stay.

Dear Kevin K:

Thank you!
It is always great to hear that our staff made such a great impression on you. They work very hard, and we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding customer service. I will definately look into better breakfast items, but Hampton brand standards prevents us deviating from products.

Best regards,

Leonard Massey

I have never had a problem with any Hampton Inn and this one was no exception. It was very well located. We parked the car and walked everywhere. I felt quite safe in this area. The room was on the small side, but clean, quiet, and comfortable. Our view was of a parking garage, but that didn't bother us since we didn't spend much time in the room because there were so many wonderful places in Savannah to explore. The hotel is close to the Riverfront and restaurants. The view from the roof was beautiful. Check in was a breeze. The staff was courteous. There were no long waits for the elevators.. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast offerings were standard, but the dining area was kept clean and well-stocked. This Hampton was a perfect fit for us.

Our first stay here was perfect for our needs. It was close to the river, parks and restaurants, and all within walking distance. The rooftop pool was great and the view was the best. The historical area suffered a power outage during a severe thunder storm which shut down the power to the hotel. The on duty staff, Ted & , took care of the entire situation, calming the guests in the lobby, passing out water and even lightsticks. really impressive.

Dear WoodGborroNC:

Thank you taking the time out of your busy schedule to write this review. I am sorry about the power going out downtown during those few hours, but I am happy to hear that Ted and the staff on duty did a great job during the ordeal. Thank you for your compliments and we all hope to have another opportunity to serve you in the future.

We stayed in the least expensive room available. It was small but suited our needs. I thought the bed was not the most comfortable but it did not impact my sleep. The air conditioner in the room was another story. It was loud and disruptive. The room was clean.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was good. They changed up the hot dishes, alternating between 4 items. Plenty of options each morning.
The pool area was disappointing due to the lack of space and umbrellas. The pool is on the roof and they only had two umbrellas. This really meant only two families could use the pool at a time. It was too hot to sit up there without a bit of shade. The hotel is located in a convenient location, a two minute walk to the Riverwalk. If I was to return to Savannah, and had more money to spend, I would stay elsewhere. If I was looking for hotel is same price range, I would stay here again.

Great location to all of Savannah and across the street from River Street!!! Roof top pool with views of the river- great place to relax after a long day! Room was clean no complaints except a little older than Spring Hill Suites but would stay here again.

We wanted to visit Tybee Island, and soak up the sights, before the heavy tourist season began. Parking was a little high, so we talked to friends who visited recently and found the street parking to be sufficient. The parking desks might be a good deal for some visitors as well. Bonus: When parking at the visitors center near SCAD, you can take the trolley and it's very cheap! The area is well-lit and safe, so it worked well for us. Many good restaurants are close by, and some are within walking distance. The bonus is the close proximity to River Street with its great sweet treats and pubs. Newbies were anxious to see the ships sail by, while we dined. Which made for some really nice souvenir pics. Breakfast was great; the property was very clean and the staff helpful. The only problems we had were the keys which needed re-keying even when we left one in the room. Go figure!

We stopped in Savannah for a night on the way to St Augustine from North Carolina. It obviously pays to book online via an agent as the fee we paid was half what others checking in around us were paying for a walk up reservation. The foyer is very clean as is the whole hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful. the room was very nicely furnished (we have a family room for 4) and the breakfast was relaxed and tasty. Savannah itself is a lovely town, very friendly inhabitants and some good pubs and restaurants. Would have been even better without the incessant tropical rain, but thats the time of year, I suppose!
