The entire stay went smoothly. When checking in late on Wednesday, we were greeted cordially and enthusiastically by the staff. The parking arrangements worked well: first you load in by the back door, then move your car to the overflow lots across the street. The lots and the hotel area are well lit, and with the student foot traffic from SCAD, safety is not a concern.
The room was spacious to say the least, the bed enormous, and the amenities were exactly what we needed. There was the oddity of the coffee and tea basket in the bathroom with no coffee machine. There is free coffee and hot water down in the lobby at all times, so this was more of an oddity than a frustration.
The free breakfast was exactly what you would expect, waffle machines, egg and cheese omelettes, sausage, home fries, cereal, coffee, tea, juice, fruit, and more. A great addition, and made the value even better.
The staff was extremely helpful, allowing us to check our bags while we wandered, and even allowing us to park all the way until the next check-in time on our check-out date.
The location was perfect, two blocks from the visitors center (where all the tour trollies depart from) and across the street from the main drags of the city.
The only challenge was the fitness center. Since we were in the area for the Cooper River Bridge Run, we had wanted to do some light runs the days leading up, and in retrospect would have been fine running on the streets (though the lights are not very helpful for that.) The morning of our check-out, the fitness center, which consists of five cardio machines, was full, and showed no signs of emptying out, so we just made a point of walking a lot that day :) The pool looked great, but the rain kept us from swimming.
Overall, this hotel made our stay in Savannah feel beautiful, convenient, and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
