“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Great location with easy walk to the river and other sites and restaurants. Front desk and valet were great. Standard Hampton breakfast, The rooms could use a little updating but over all I would definitely stay again.

“Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

This hotel was perfect for my birthday weekend in Savannah. The staff was so sweet and even had my name on the board when I walked in the door! The beds were so soft and the shower was lovely. Instead of using the valet, I parked in the garage across the street for $8. It's just a short walk to River Street and was an excellent price. I will definitely be staying here again next time I come to Savannah!

“Won't stay there again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

I'm a regular Hampton Inn business traveler and this HI wasn't up to snuff. I hung up my toiletry bag and the hook came out of the wall. The hot water was just warm...so I didn't get a hot shower. The toilet wouldn't stop running, so I finally turned off the water to the toilet so I could sleep.

I put "Hampton Inn Historic District" in my GPS, and it took me to Broughton St. (where there is no Hampton Inn) instead of E. Bay St. I had stayed at this HI before so knew vaguely where I was going so didn't get lost. However, when I showed the GPS misdirections at the front desk, they seemed to think it was my problem and didn't seem to understand that if my GPS got it wrong, then others who subscribe to the same GPS would get lost...and that corporate needs to investigate and get corrected. They didn't care.

The valet parking staff was nice and efficient.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The staff (especially the front desk staff ) were very helpful and polite. The hotel lobby was well kept and inviting. The rooms were clean and basic. No frills or extra amenities. The roof top pool lounge was perfect on a clear evening for relaxing and views of the city. The location was perfect for enjoying the historic city and was within walking distance of some wonderful restaurants. The only negative was the complimentary breakfast. It was of poor quality. The food was not done well done. The menu and quality needs to improve.

Room Tip: The river is of the oak trees. Don't other to upgrade to a river view room.

“Very Nice Stay for Christmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

First let me say, BE VERY CAREFUL to choose this location and not the MLK location. This hotel is one "short block" off the river and walking distance to SO many great restaurants. The staff was a always helpful and always happy to help. We took advantage of the valet parking option ($20/day) from the hotel and felt very comfortable doing so. The valets were very meticulous with my vehicle and made me feel very comfortable turning over my keys. BUT, be aware there is a public parking garage directly across Abercorn (the side street). If you are not traveling at a very "busy" time of year, you might consider taking advantage of public parking. There was definitely a comfort level in knowing I had a guaranteed parking spot awaiting my arrival regardless of time of day and no walking in the rain.

As for the hotel, the room was very clean and nice, as I have come to expect from Hampton Inn, along with a mini-fridge, and microwave. The view was fantastic since we faced the river on the 6th floor. We watched the tugs, massive container ships and river tour boats pass lazily along. Michelle, at the front desk, was very happy to help and seemed to always be in a great mood. She was quick humored, whimsical and made us both feel as though we were regulars instead of first timers. The cleaning staff was very accommodating with cleaning times since we always left the room later.

The location of the hotel could not be much better. You are a short walk from Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Paula Deans, Churchill's Pub, Outback Steakhouse... BUT, you have to get the potato salad from Cotton Exchange Tavern (across Bay St. and down the stairs on River St.). Only a few blocks from the "Market", it is an easy and educational walk. The "Green Squares" are just out the door of the hotel and a nice walking tour if you have a day to devote to them (we walked all 22 of them approx. 4.5 miles). Take in a show from the Savannah Theater and enjoy the music, plot line and comedy of the local troop (Christmas show is a must see). All of this is well within walking distance from the Hampton Inn (Bay St.).

Thanks again and hats off to the entire staff)... we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: If you can get an upper level room facing the river the view is very nice. The view of Old Town is y...
