“Very disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

This hotel really needs to be updated. In these days of electronics, there were hardly any esasily accessible outlets. It would have been nice to have an outlet near the bed, one that you don't have to reach behind something to get. I was in the workout room several times. Each time I went there were NO clean towels and there was garbage all over the floors. The location of this hotel is prime but I would have a hard time recommending this hotel to anyone, regardless of the location. Extremely disappointed in a Marriott property.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a river view. There is lots to see from the balconies.

Right on the riverfront but just down enough so you can get some peace and quiet. Pleasant atmosphere and comfy rooms made it a nice stay. Good food too. You can get around to different parts of Savannah daily from here or you can just hangout by the riverfront. Works well.

Stayed at the hotel as part of a conference for 4 nights. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was perfectly adequate. I used the workout room and the equipment was clean and modern. Ordered a room service pizza (9") and with a diet pepsi and tip was $20 but room service is always expensive. The restaurant is typical hotel food except the breakfast buffet which was wonderful. The lady cooking omletes was a wealth of knowledge and super nice. The staff are the best part of the hotel without a doubt. The water taxi was great. It gets you down to the old part of riverfront in air conditioning- very important in July (good Lord its hot and humid!). Interesting town and devent hotel, have fun.

I stayed here for a conference with my co workers. The conference area was very large and comfortable. A few issues with the sound system but fixed quickly. Requested 2 rooms with 2 double beds each, but when we got there we got a room with 2 dbl beds and a room with a king size bed. ( Booked our rooms several months in advance). The hotel is at the end of the riverfront walk and a little quieter than most hotels in area. Within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Our parking was free with conference, but noticed parking is $19 which seems very high. The rooms are pretty standard. I had no refrigerator or microwave, which would have been nice to have. Beds are extremely comfortable. My room was a less expensive room so our view was of the rooftop.Great view of river and passing cargo ships from river side of hotel. Room was clean. A/C worked very well which is important when you visit in July! They have gotten rid of their hottub since our last visit .The absolute best thing about this hotel is the staff. Everyone was very helpful. You never went by a housekeeper in the hall without them smiling and saying hello. The valet attendants were very helpful with our luggage and everytime we left the hotel to go somewhere, the staff spoke to us. When we came in from the beach one evening, they asked us how our day at the beach was. We were all impressed with the friendly staff. Our room was ready when we checked in. Overall a great experience and we will stay for here for future conferences. Just a note to save your time...when you check your credit card statement, charges will appear higher than charges on your receipt. You assume there is a mistake and once you call, you find out this is a deposit that will eventually come off your card.

Room Tip: If you are interested in a good view, choose a riverfront room. If you are more interested in savin...

My friend and I really loved the place! However, we were shocked to have received an 18 dollar bill slid under our door for parking the next morning. The gentleman instructed us to park under the hotel , but did not disclose the charge! Needless to say we were shocked. We questioned the front desk the next morning, but they said there was nothing that could be done. We were very disappointed.

This hotel is pretty standard for what you would expect of any Marriott. I think some posters here are mixing up this hotel and the other Marriot in Savannah, which is lower grade and older so take bad comments with a grain of salt. Maintenance and housekeeping was good. The concierge Michael was very helpful and will do all you tour booking for you. Check in was fast and courteous. The real value of this hotel is that it at the end of the downtown riverfront strip making walking to shops, restaurants and sites very easy. There is a free bus (the DOT) so don’t buy trolley tour tickets just to get around. In fact, anyone with reasonable mobility can walk everywhere in the historic district with no problems, other than the humidity in Savannah in July is 110% LOL. Oh yah, as long as it’s in a cup, you can walk the streets with a beer!

Room Tip: I wouldn't spend the money on river front rooms. The river is muddy and full of floating debris...

Our family stays at this hotel as a pit stop on our drive up and down the east coast. While this is an older hotel and could use some updates the view on the river is outstanding. The staff has always been very friendly and have gone out of our way to ensure that our kids were taken care of. In door and out door pool make swimming available anytime of the year. In walking distance to several unique dinning locations to the savanah area. We have stayed her more than 4 times and will continue coming back.
