“Extremely nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012 via mobile

Extremely nice hotel in an excellent location for visiting downtown savannah. Rooms could have been a bit bigger for the price. Over all though, I was very pleased. Super convenient for river street. Nice complimentary bath & body works toiletries.

We stayed for 2 nights in May before continuing on to Hilton Head. The hotel itself is fine, very typical Marriott style and decor. We loved the location and we enjoyed having drinks and snacks on our balcony at sun set both evenings. What made this hotel extra special was the staff. They just couldn't do enough for you. Every request was "yes", but more importantly, they proactively anticipated our needs and took care of things without us asking. There are lots of beautiful places to stay in Savannah so it was a tough choice for us when we booked. Now that we have stayed there, I don't see any reason to stay anywhere else. Value for money is there and when the staff treat you like gold, there is simply no reason to look elsewhere. They really got our vacation off to a great start.

Room Tip: Ask for room that faces the river.

We spent 3 nights at the Savannah Riverfront and had no problems during our stay. The room was clean, and we had a great river front view. The bathroom was a bit dated, no granite here, but it was fine. I ordered room service several times, and the food was very good. The mattresses are foam, and very comfortable. The hotel is walking distance from the historic downtown area, but it's a couple of blocks away. Overall, we were satisfied and would return.

Room Tip: The river front rooms have the novelty of watching the ships pass by.

When looking for hotels in savannah, i decided on this one based on the name and price. It's at the end of the river which is fine because it's a short walk or drive to the river walk cafes and attractions. Other hotels are 100.00 or more. Rooms are big and very clean. Staff is very friendly. Only thing you should know is parking is 20.00 and wi-fi is not free.

We stayed at this Marriott on the Friday night of Labor Day Weekend and it was very busy with several events going on. Even as busy & full as the hotel was, this hotel is so well run by the staff that everything from valet to parking to check-in went very smoothly & quickly.

We stayed here once before (on our Honeymoon trip) over a decade ago, and found that the property had been refreshed in 2011 (new carpet, bedding, etc.). It's a well-maintained Marriott and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Despite how busy the hotel was our room was very quiet and we slept great. Good sound-proof rooms, recently redecorated, comfy beds.
The bedding was very nice (feather pillows, etc.) and they'd paid attention to our reservation requests by providing extra pillows and towels.

The AC/heat controls are not to a particular temperature setting--they just offer "cooler" or " warmer" type knob directions..so you may have to fiddle with them a bit to find a comfortable setting. Nonetheless the AC is good and strong which is wonderful in the hot/muggy Savannah late summer weather.

This isn't the closest hotel to the River District - there are others that are newer and nicer--but there are convenient ferry boats you can take (during weekday hours and high-tourism season) from in front of the hotel to get there. Otherwise it's a bit of a hike. (Would be too far for small children or folks who can't walk about a mile or so comfortably in the heat.)

As other reviewers pointed out - you'll pay for parking (self park is $18, Valet $24) and WiFi and everything is a bit more expensive - but the River Views are nice.
Weekend nights (like our Friday night stay) there are often fireworks across the river - so if available be sure to get a River View room with a balcony.

Room Tip: If you stay, best to upgrade to a River View room with a balcony -- it's worth it!

An older property but well maintained and clean. Rooms can overlook the Savannah river or the large, open atrium, where the pool, bar, lobby, etc is. Like many full service marriotts you will pay extra for parking ($18), and if you want wifi that will cost you $12.95. You are right on the edge of the historic district, a very short (1/2 mile?) walk away. Access to river st is right outside the hotel.

Not a bad location for runners, too. I got a 6 mile run in by heading down E Bay to Bull. At the end of Bull is a large park. Each lap around the park is 1 mile. It is 1.38 miles to the park from the hotel.

Great location with a short walk to the Historic District and great restaurants/bars. This was my 3rd stay, and it is definitely best to get a river view. Ample sized rooms, good amenities (pool/fitness center), and a concierge lounge. Actually priced better than some of the other big brand names that are located directly in the Historic District.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.
