Stopped in for the night on our way to Florida. we paid $139+ for a 2 double bed room. No parking on site. They have a pay lot somewhere else. My husband parked the car. He said that several street people hit him up for money on way back to hotel, and several attempted to sell him homemade type flowers & baskets. We couldn't sleep because street people on harbor side sang until wee hours of the morning. The cops would run them off, but they just came back. Finally I went to sleep. Porter was friendly, but hotel clerk was brrrrrrrrrrrr cold. I couldn't & wouldn't recommend this place. I told my husband I'm taking a shower tonight so when I get up I can just get the hell out of here! My husband said I'm with you! That pretty much says it all doesn't it?

The room was large and clean. Staff was friendly. River Street Inn was right in the center of all the activity on River Street. Our room faced the river and it was great to see all the ships pass by and people-watch from our balcony. All the activity was fun during the day, but at night it continued as we tried to sleep. So my only complaint is that it was a little noisy at times. I'd still recommend it.

I checked in after dark and upon entering the room, I was moderately pleased (they give you some local candy on your pillow, which was nice) but the room felt cold and damp. I tried to adjust the temperature of the room but nothing changed. Even crawling in the bed, the sheets and pillows felt cold and damp. I woke up feeling a little under the weather and figured that it had to do with the climate of the room. In addition to the condition of the room, I was dissatisfied with the customer service, or lack thereof. I left behind several items in the bathroom of my room. I called later in the day (the same day I checked out) and they claimed that nothing was left behind in the room. It was very disturbing to me that they would steal items that were clearly left behind and not donated to the hotel for their personal use. I was very disappointed and will NEVER stay at this hotel again. I have expressed my disgust with the hotel- they didn't even apologize- and informed everyone that I know that visits Savannah to AVOID this hotel at all costs. It was okay (so far as atmosphere) but the room was uncomfortable and the customer service is terrible. I enjoyed The Marshall House much more- from customer service to accommodations, I DO NOT recommend staying at the River Street Inn.

The hotel is located in the old cotton exchange building and could be so much better if it was run by more professional staff. The building is old and charming, but lack of a business center was a problem for our group. There are some nice amenities, such as bathrobes, turndown service with ice and good sweets on the pillow. The location is excellent on the river and the happy hour with complementary wine and cheese was ok. Our room had a leaky toilet and poor water pressure in the shower. I heard other guests complaining about not getting the river view room they reserved and others who had problems with their reservations. Food was below average.

The River Street Inn is located right in the heart of Savannah's historic district. You step out on one side and can walk right along the river. On the other side you can browse through shops and eat at sidewalk cafes on River Street. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed with nice extras like a refrigerator, safe, CD player, coffeemaker, and flat screen TV. The staff was extremely friendly and gave helpful advise on restaurants and tours. The rooms are a little pricey compared to neighboring hotels but the location and atmosphere can't be beat.
