My fiance and I were really excited about our trip to Savannah and I'm sad to say that we had an AWFUL time, partly in due to the way we were treated at this hotel. Our reservation that we made through Travelocity promised us a free parkview upgrade but we were instead given a room overlooking the garage. When I asked about the possibility of changing rooms for the following day, since I understood they were fully booked that night, I was given nothing but attitude and was basically made to jump through hoops by both Travelocity and the hotel staff. "You see..you're paying this, and you want that" said the staff member in a nasty tone of voice. I actually had to show the staff person the paper that showed we were promised the park view upgrade. Afterwards, she commented that they had had similar problems in the past with Travelocity and Expedia. We were told that the manager would contact us but he/she never did. After reminding the staff several times of our promise of a free upgrade and making no less than three visits to the hotel during the next day to remind them that we needed to switch rooms, we were finally moved to a different room with a park view. (It should be noted that each time we returned we had to explain the situation over even though we were dealing with the same two people.) The room we were given, however, had a very nice view but it smelled like someone had been smoking, which is why I think the balcony door was open when we arrived. (Note: I understand the smell is not the hotel's fault but it sure didn't make us feel any better.) On top of the rotten service we had already received, a bellman knocked on our door one morning at 8am to ask for our bags and it took us about five minutes to try and explain to him that we were not the room that requested a bellman and we weren't even checking out that day. "What?" he asked. "Is this room 201? Someone up here asked me to get their bags." We asked him to try the room next to us but he seemed more than a little confused. Also, the front desk had to keep re-charging our cards each day so that we could enter our room. Needless to say, this got really annoying. One man, who I'm assuming worked there, said we had to recharge our cards if it was after 12pm, which doesn't make sense to me but that is what we had to do. Even though our room was pre-paid for another day, my fiance and I decided to call it quits and actually checked out a day early. When we told them we were checking out early, the front desk seemed not the least bit phased. We knew we had made the right decision when they told us that they the bellman had accidentially tried to give our car to another person because they couldn't figure out who it belonged to. (I'm guessing they forgot to switch our car to our new room number when we switched rooms.) We're not sure if we will ever get the money back for the night we checked out early but it just wasn't worth the frustration to stay there another night. My bit of advice - don't stay here! The staff will spoil your entire visit. They SERIOUSLY need to improve their customer service.
