I had the pleasure of staying at the Historic Mulberry Inn in Savannah in September 2012, as it was the location of my brother's wedding. The hotel was very easy to find from the interstate which was wonderful considering that this was my first visit to Savannah Ga.
The concierge service/bell hops were fabulous as they helped me roll my luggage from directly across the street from their convenient parking garage.
The ladies at the front desk were super nice as well! The location was SUPERB if you're looking to stay at a hotel that is within walking distance to all of the Savannah tourist sites.
The entrance to the River Street/Riverwalk (which was awesome) was right across the street from the hotel, adjacent to this beautiful park.
My only complaint about the hotel was the smoky smell in the hallways and also the internet service in the rooms. I'm aware that this is an old/historic hotel, however the smoky smell in the hall was horrible!
My room was nice, but not exceptional, especially for the price. I've stayed at hotels that cost way less, with nicer amenities. I guess you're paying for the location and convenience at The Mulberry.
Also, as a grad student, I was disappointed that the rooms were not equipped with wireless internet access. For some reason, due to the location of my room I was unable to pick up a signal on my mobile hotspot. There was a dial up internet cord available for my laptop, but I was not able to use my iPad unless I went to the lobby which was a bit inconvenient as I attempted to study at night.
All in all, the hotel was nice for the location, but needed a few upgrades. I must add that the breakfast buffet the morning of the wedding was very good---and so was the wedding dinnerl/cake which was included in their wedding package. The wedding was absolutely breathtaking in the courtyard! Stay at the Mulberry if you need accommodations with convenient parking and access to the River Walk and other tourist sites, but just keep in mind that you're paying for the location.
