“Great staff, wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

Just finished a two night stay at Marshall House. In Savannah on a short business trip and wanted a convenient but historic place to stay. This hotel was both. Within walking distance to historic squares, city market, shopping and restaurants. Needed a cab to get to the business appointment and the front desk staff took care of that. (Be aware that cabs must be arranged ahead of time - not possible to just get one on the street.) Rooms are fine, a little quirky since it is such an old hotel. Excellent breakfast included. Complimentary wine and cheese in the evening. AC is a little noisy.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade if possible.

This is a beautiful place to stay while in Savannah. The location was perfect! We were walking distance to everything. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The historic nature of the building was just wonderful -- and has been wonderfully restored and kept. The cheese/wine reception was nice as was the morning breakfast. The areas for both were very nicely appointed. There was always fresh lemonade in the atrium and a supply of local newspapers. The bellmen were courteous and knowledgeable of the area. We did valet park our car upon arrival and did not get or need our car back until our departure. You will not be disappointed in the Marshall House.

Room Tip: Room 216 overlooked the breakfast area. I would have preferred a room overlooking the street instea...

wanting to be walking distance to the sites of Savannah, we booked the Marshall House. Very convenient for sure. Rooms seemed quite nice... staff friendly... spring time is busy season for sure. Disappointed that you couldn't get 'real' coffee in the lobby before 8:00 in the AM... unless you walked down the street to a coffee shop or Panera. Yes, it was in the room, but for $165 per nite you would think the restaurant could have pots of coffee in the lobby for early risers. Yes, we would stay again.

This is a gem place to stay. The price is right and the place is very clean. fresh drinks in lobby, newspaper, parking was easy and it was a good price. historic building. Even heard a few ghost stories from the Civil War....I enjoyed it and I am not easy to make happy.

My husband usually likes newer hotels as we have stayed in an historic hotel previously that was not suitable. This hotel was very nice and quiet with comfortable bed, nice employees and still had the wonderful character of being over 100 years old. The restaurant attached is also quite an added bonus. We stayed 4 nights and ate in the 45 Bistro 2 nights. They served one of the largest steaks and most delicious that we have ever eaten and we are from Texas. There were many locals there which is always a good sign. We enjoyed the quick walk to the river each evening and felt quite safe. The location was easily walkable to all of the sights that we wanted to visit.

Room Tip: We stayed in a superior king room #419 which was very quiet and nice size. We requested a shower on...

I enjoyed my stay at the historic Marshall House. The room was small, but perfectly comfortable and lovely. The king-size bed was firm and comfortable, and came with six huge down pillows. The bathroom was big enough, very pretty, and included several fluffy towels. This hotel was well located on Broughton, and was an easy walk to every site I wanted to visit. Built in the mid-1800s, the Marshall House retains that authentic Southern feeling with modern amenities like free wireless that had plenty of signal strength, complimentary breakfast (as you get in most European hotels), flat-screen TVs, etc. The high point of my stay was the courteous staff. Every staff person I encountered was friendly and helpful. This is a boutique, B&B-style inn with historic design and charm, and very close to all the sites, bars, restaurants, shops and parks.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms farther from the elevator.
