“Good location, but plusses and minuses”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

I chose this hotel because of TA reviews, So here goes,
The good- wonderful, welcoming staff. They were always attentive, The building is beautiful,
The location is very central so you can walk anywhere in the historical district,
The not so good, We chose The Mary Marshall Suite (I think the most expensive room), It was on the 2nd floor, so we could take the stairs up to our room. The room was at the end of the open veranda, where you climbed out the window, However, the room is also right near the elevator, so you heard that noise, Also, it's right at the top of stairs and across from the maids closets, The room itself was pretty nice, keeping in my this is an old place, Lots of room and light in the windows, The wood floors were beautiful but very slippery, Thank goodness there was a nice shower, because showering in the clawfoot tub would have been tough, I could have tolerated all the above, but one thing that isn't really mentioned in most of the other reviews is the NOISE from the street below, Broughton is main city street, so cars, trucks, fire and police cars at all hours,
So I would say if you want quiet, ask for a room not facing the street, But then I don't know what you would be looking at.
So again, this is a great location with wonderful staff. But these other issues are main considerations,

Room Tip: Mary Marshall Suite lovely, but faces Broughton which is very loud and noisy, Outside balcony was f...

We stayed here this week for the 9-10th time, which is summarized by annual vacation trips not work related. Marshall house remains a very good choice for a person/couple that like to walk and leave the car parked. It is in the center of Savannah's clothing shops, restaurants, and "Pubs." The staff is great and ready to help "point you in the right direction." They are knowledgeable and very friendly, tough to find in today's society!

Room Tip: Marshall House is located on one of the main streets of Savannah. Although we have not had any issue...

This was a really nice place to stay. You can walk through the historic district to most imporant landmarks from here. Room was small, but very comfortable. Great place for those interested in the history of the place.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the Marshall. The room was spacious and quite comfortable. The breakfast buffet was varied each day and included some well-prepared southern favorites. The complimentary wine and cheese gathering in the evenings was a great way to begin the night. Even after dinner we returned to the common sitting area for a game of cards and were able to chat with other guests. The staff was wonderful and provided accurate information about sights to see and places to dine. We'll certainly be back the next time we're in Savannah.

While visiting the Savannah Historic district for a long weekend, I wanted to stay one night in a genuine historic (possibly haunted) hotel. The Mashall House definately fit the bill. The hotel exterior is gorgeous - classic, creepy, romantic. We arrived early, but were able to valet the car & check our luggage while we went exploring on foot. The front desk was very accommodating and called us later when the room was ready (3:30). The classic king room was private, spacious, clean and seemed newly remodeled. No scuffs on the baseboards, or dust bunnies here! Thoroughly enjoyed our super comfortable king bed with really nice linens. The room also had a flat screen tv mounted over the old fashioned fireplace, large antique wardrobe with bathrobes & safe, and cute "Savannah B&B" boutique shampoos/soaps. The bathroom was modern victorian with a walk-in tiled shower that was very cool. The wood floors were gorgeous, and gloriously warped so you practically rolled through the hallways. I love that they kept the old flooring and fireplaces in the hallways, it was like stepping back in time once we got away from the elevator. We could not resist exploring each floor and the creepy narrow back staircase. Did not see Gracie the ghost, but my husband had his first screaming ghostie nightmare while we were there....hmmm possible manifestation? I especially appreciated the not-quite-B&B atmosphere of the hotel. We were able to enjoy a romantic evening at a beautifully restored building without being forced to interact with other guests like your typical B&B.

Stayed 3 nights during a Southern States trip.Paid more for a balcony room which was great with access, through the window,to the 2nd floor communal balcony which had tables, rocking chairs and seats.Very relaxing after a day out.Room was spacious and well appointed. The free wine and cheese reception although only Sunday to Thursday was great with plenty of wine and cheese in the lounge. We enjoyed a Friday as well due to an external event which we could go to as residents, nice touch.Valet parking was good value although hotel was within walking distance of everything ie historic squares, restaurants, bars and music on River St..Great breakfast room and helpful desk.In short the place to stay in Savannah
