“Lovely haunted hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

This hotel has the right blend of history, southern ambiance, cleanliness and ghosts. We had a few "wierd" experiences during our 2 night stay here but left feeling like we had visited a friends house. The staff were lovely and were happy to tell historical and ghostly facts. Would recommend again! (though I didn't feel the breakfast was that great...good enough but not great...)

The Marshall House was everything it seemed to be and more! The location is excellent. You are right in the heart of the historic district. Valet parking was very affordable and everything, including shopping, dining and all of the historic sights were within walking distance. The staff were very accommodating, knowledgeable and always willing to help. T he room was quaint and elegant and very clean! We would definitely stay there again...

Almost everything about this hotel is wonderful! Perfect location and the people are truly wonderful. I left my pen and they shipped right back to me. Always friendly and helpful. I would recommend they get some better pillows.

Room Tip: Ask to stay on the back side of the hotel. The street side is very noisy.

We loved The Marshall House!! Everything you want in a B&B in a historic town. The staff was great and so was the location. We were in the middle of everything. The room was beautiful and clean. Not a thing to complain about!!

A perfect combination of old wood historical feel and modern amenities! The hotel is older and charming. Beautiful lobby. The rooms were not large but nicely decorated and very clean, I loved the wood floors ( ours was a little slanted, added to the historical ambience) Theres an excellent wine and cheese cocktail hour and a very nice buffet breakfast included in rate. The staff were extremely helpful and congenial. location excllent. we walked everywhere no problem. We loved everything about this hotel and plan to return to the city and this hotel again!

The Marshall House is very conveniently located making it easy to walk to just about any tourist attraction. It is only a few blocks to River Walk and City Market, and in the midst of all the squares. The front desk is more than happy to make reservations. If you want to take a trolley tour, they will pick you up at the hotel and take you to departing trolleys. The daily breakfast is included and includes hot entrees and cereal as well as cold cereals, fruit, pastries, and juices. It is self serve in a beautiful indoor courtyard. Week nights feature a wine and cheese social which is always well attended. It is held in the sitting room. The hotel has its own lounge and restaurant which are very good, but a bit pricey. Since the hotel is located downtown, there are plenty of restaurants and stores within easy walking distance. A car is not needed when staying at The Marshall House. Rooms are decorated beautifully and historically. Regular rooms can be a bit small so I recommend superior king rooms. Some rooms can access a shared balcony across the front of the hotel, which is on the main shopping street. There is an elevator.

Room Tip: Choose superior rooms for bigger space. Some rooms face parking lot, so ask when you book.

We come down to Savannah a few times per year to get away from home. We normally stay at one of the bed and breakfasts like the wonderful Kehoe House. This time we spent two nights in the Marshall House.
The location for the Marshall House is great. You can walk to anywhere in the historic district from here. The rooms are a good size. Through the night you heard traffic outside, but you would expect that anywhere.
The only problem I had was the concierge staff. We asked them for ideas for things to do. The first thing we asked about was a ghost tour. They referred us to After Life Tours. He claimed they recommend people to him for tours. We obviously took their word. The tour was atrocious. It turns out that the guy who owns the tour company is friends with the guy at the Hotel. In addition we also we to Alligator Soul based on a recommendation from the Hotel. The restaurant was convenient to where the tour started, they got that right, but the food was only so-so.
So, aside from the staff recommending their buddies for a kick back this was a good place to stay.
