“INN-Credible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

We spent three nights at the Hamilton-Turner Inn in mid-March. Visiting Savannah is always a delight and staying at this inn only made a long-anticipated trip even better. The staff is considerate, the breakfasts delicious, the amenities elegant, and the owners gracious. On a very rainy Sunday morning, when we couldn't get a cab, Gay drove us to our destination. Jim even took care of putting quarters into the parking meter on the Monday of our departure! The inn is beautifully restored and furnished, providing restful and relaxing surroundings at any time of day or night. Being able to walk out of the front door onto beautiful Lafayette Square is just one of the many perks of staying at the inn. We are looking forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: Visit the inn's website and select the room of your choice!

We live in Macon and drove to Savannah a few years ago to choose a place to stay for our honeymoon in Savannah. After looking at a dozen B&Bs and inns, we toured the Hamilton-Turner Inn and instantly decided it was THE place to stay. We had a wonderful stay and have returned many times. We visit Savannah often and sometimes think it best to explore and try other B&Bs or inns. The other B&Bs and inns that we have tried never quite measure up to the Hamilton-Turner Inn. Jim Dunlap and his staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. They make us feel very welcome. Jim himself actually serves breakfast. The home is absolutely gorgeous. It is decorated and cared for with meticulous attention to detail. The many large windows are always perfectly clean. The rooms are classy, clean and comfortable. We have stayed on the second, third and lower levels. Next time we will stay on the first level. Thank you Jim and staff for our wonderful visits to your inn. We look forward to our next visit.

We were there the three nights before St. Patrick's Day celebration. We had a chance to experience the calm before the storm and loved it! We saw the staff handle all situations with grace and class. We had a question about dinner, transportation or directions and they were more than happy to help. The house is wonderful-plenty of history but full of the comfort touch. We would go back again in a second!

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor...up two full flights of stairs but staff was more than happy to carry ba...

Three couples went to the Hamilton-Turner and spent St. Patrick's Day, 2013, in wonderful Savannah. If you have never been there during this time, it is crowded, noisy, lot of crazies, but most of all a lot of fun. But spending three days in the hussle & bussle of the occasion, it was so wonderful to come back to the peaceful, gracious and elegant Hamilton-Turner. From morning to night the owners and their staff make you feel so comfortable, you just don't want to leave. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: 17 rooms, each with private bath. The three rooms involved in this trip, one was prettier than the o...

This was one of our most enjoyable trips. The breakfast and the atmosphere were second to none. The city was beautiful, even when the weather was bad. The mystic of Savannah, its history, and the Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil story, made it even more intriguing. Our room, the Johnny Mercer room was the best we've experienced. We took as many pictures of it as we did the rest of the trip. The staff was great! From our luggage to our coffee cups, we were pampered. The service exceeded excellence. We will surely return when we vacation in Savannah again.

Room Tip: The Johnny Mercer room is everything described and shown in the photos. It has an excellent view of...

Hamilton Inn is nothing short of first class, with so many little extras seeing it well ahead of other small inns in the Savannah Historic district. Your hosts are gracious and non intrusive and the southern style breakfasts will leave you satisfied and looking forward to the next mornings treat. I'd recommend not staying on the ground floor, as it does see more foot traffic and can feel less private, as hard as the hosts try to ensure a pleasant stay.

I highly recommend the Hamilton Inn, it is top of the class for a luxury bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: Not on the main floor.

Stayed two nights in the "Johnny Mercer Room. The door to our room opened up right next to the welcome desk. Any employees or staff that were standing there could see right in our room. We did NOT like that. Plus we could hear noises from the kitchen. While we were there we a tire was slashed on our rental car. (Seriously ruined most of one of our days there) No help of any kind offered by the owners or staff when we reported it. Another guest's car was also slashed. Made us wonder about the neighborhood. The breakfast was hit and miss. Eggs Benedict spot on and french toast with peaches and a syrupy glaze not worthy of this place and what you pay for.

I do want to say that the owners were two of the nicest people we met. Plus the staff was very helpful. Would not go back based on the very high tariff. We would seek out other options.

Thank you for your review.

While we do regret that your tires were punctured, I must say that I find it quite unsettling that you have reported that our staff did nothing to assist you in this matter. When you stopped by the desk to report this issue, you mentioned that you had already called Triple A who were on the way to repair your tire. Immediately after you mentioned this to our Innkeeper, she called the police and I contacted you when the officer arrived to the Inn which you spoke with and gave a report of the incident. You were asked by our Innkeeper if there was anything else she could do and you declined the offer. The area in which our Inn sits is a safe neighborhood as this has been the first incident reported by guests in the three years that I have worked here. A vast majority of our guests park their cars and walk to many points of interest without incident.

Again, we regret that this occurred during your visit to our beautiful City of Savannah and that this incident ruined your visit.

As it relates to our rates, we make mention of the cost of all of our rooms at the time of booking and are well advertised on our both of our websites. Therefore, guests who book at our Inn are well informed of our rates prior to booking which are standard amongst properties in the Historic District.

We do thank you for choosing the Hamilton-Turner Inn and do hope for the opportunity to have you again as our valued guests.
