“Not the best, not the worst”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

This hotel is very average. I chose this hotel because it was about $60 cheaper per night than some of the other hotels a block or two away. It is very close to City Market, which was helpful and another reason I chose this hotel. But it is a decent hike from River Street. The room had a musty smell when we first arrived but after we got the air circulating a good bit, that helped with the smell. Didn't eliminate the smell but helped. Our room was on the same side as MLK Blvd. With the amount of traffic going through, there was zero chances of being able to sleep in. There were parts of the hotel that were warmer (lobby was down right hot, and the halls beside the vending machines were quite toasty as well). Rooms were starting to show some wear. And the drain plug in my shower wouldn't stay up so we had to wedge the complimentary lotion in there to keep the water draining. Parking is valet ($18 per night) or street. Kinda pricey but pretty standard around the historic district.

When we went to our room we noticed that the room smelled strongly of carpet cleaner but figured it would dissipate. That night around 8 p.m, the smell was still strong and when I took off my shoes, I realized the carpet was wet. When I went to the desk and informed them of the problem. I received an oh, they didn't know that the carpet had been cleaned in that room. To their credit, they did offer to move us, but at that point, we had unpacked and decided to stay there and see what the situation was in the morning. In the morning it was drier and I informed the desk that the carpet was still damp. They said that they would bring fans to the room to aid the drying; it never happened.

The other worrisome issue occurred when I first went to get my valuables from the hotel safe. They took the key and handed me the box without verifying my signature or even asking for my room number. I could have been anyone who happened to have the lockbox key. Very disconcerting. I had to continue to use the lockbox and 50% of the time was not asked to verify my identity. The front desk staff needs to be better trained.

It would also have been nice to know the parking cost ahead of time ($18/day). I had checked the website and it was not mentioned.

On a positive note the Concierge was excellent and very helpful! The location is convenient, but definitely on the edge of the good area.

We picked this hotel due to the location of being very close to our son who moved to Savannah. The plus was being very close to City Market, beautiful squares and all the shops and restaurants in the historic district! Our first disappointment was trying to find a place to park to check in. Valet parking is all they offer and all though it looks like the front of the hotel is on MLK it is actually on the side street facing West Bryan Street. We lucked out after circling the block twice and found a parallel spot near the entrance. We walked around the building to the entrance on MLK and felt a bit confused after entering and discovering that is was the side door; so we had to walk through the hotel to the desk.
We checked into our room on the 2nd floor facing MLK. Double windows and double beds, not bad except for the overpowering smell of deodorizers used to mask other smells (whew!). Our room was clean and substantial. Breakfast is not included in the price so be sure and ask about options. Other reviews I read indicated the all-you-can-eat buffet ($10) or a continental plate ($5). I was told the only option was the buffet for $12. We chose to eat at Goose Feathers on Barnard Street right up from Ellis Square instead. This was an excellent choice and the brisk walk was so enjoyable!
We took advice of other travelers and bought a parking pass ($12 for 48 hrs) from the Visitors Center a few blocks up MLK. This is the BEST deal; as you can park at any city garage, lot or parking meter-1 hour or more- for the purchase of this pass. We parked at the Whitaker Street Garage 4 blocks away. After parking take the elevator up to Ellis Square and it is only 3 blocks back to the hotel. We parked our car and walked the city, which is the only way to see the historic city! Wearing comfortable shoes is a must! The morning we checked out of our hotel we moved our car to a spot right across the hotel so we could pack it more easily. Valet parking at the hotel is $18 a day, so this parking pass is certainly worth it!
Although you need to take necessary precautions we never felt threatened walking the city even after dark. There are usually many people walking and restaurants stay open late.
I read other reviews about minor complaints such as the thin trash can liner left folded on the trash can (something my husband noticed), and a rattling air conditioner. I was a bit put out that an hour before our check out time our room key was already disabled, so that was a bit inconvenient as my husband after loading the car was not able to get back into the hotel through the side entrance or back into our room! You would think they would at least wait until check out time.
All in all not a bad stay especially if you can get a deal on the room price. If you do stay request a room facing the pool for a bit more quiet.

Room Tip: Rooms facing MLK are very noisy at night and early morning! Odd # rooms have small refrigerators.

While they have converted to a smoke free hotel, you can tell by the smell of the rooms, and the burn holes on some blankets that this was not always case.

The cleaning was spotty , with marks on the bathroom walls. The carpets in traffic areas are worn.

The location is good for walking, but beware that the rooms overlooking Bay Street, a main thoroughfare, have a noise issue in the morning - between 5:30- 6:30 A.M. with trucks accelerating from a stoplight, which will wake those not sound sleepers.

The staff is oh so pleasant and we were pleased with their caring and responsiveness.

The location is convenient, although a little dicey at night with panhandlers, and the rooms are average, at best. The nighttime dining room/lounge staff, however, is another story. Anna, Mecca and LaShon - what jewels they are. Especially Anna. She's funny, friendly, welcoming and made us feel like visiting relatives. Whatever they pay her, it's not enough. She MAKES that area of the hotel. And I really hope her boss reads this review. All three girls are stars - Anna is the brightest of them all.

Fist time to savannah .. Stayed at th Sheraton 4 points. We were amazed at how nice the hotel was and the close location to City Market. The hotel room had a sitting area, desk , flat screen tv with on-demand, and a clean tile and glass shower. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a very good deal on three nights at Four Points. We found the location to be very handy to the Market Square area of Savannah. The room, however, was very small considering it was advertised as a "King Deluxe". One very bright spot was the breakfast deal in the dining room and the helpful wait staff. They offered a five dollar Continental and a ten dollar buffet--both very good deals. A huge drawback of our stay was the street noise. I would not recommend this hotel unless you get a very good deal on the room rate.

Room Tip: If street noise bothers you, stay somewhere else.
