We went to Huey's On the River for lunch as we strolled along the water. It was a perfect location to see the water and watch people pass by. The restaurant featured New Orleans/Cajun/Creole cuisine. We were only looking for a light lunch since we had dinner reservations later in the evening, otherwise we would have also tried their beignets. (Which looked so good that I had to stop myself from taking a bite of one when the lady at the next table went to the bathroom!) I chose the smothered chicken ($8.95) which was delicious. I had the choice of fries, rice/beans, or sweet potato fries for and additional dollar. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the fries plentiful. My husband had the Fried Shrimp and Oysters ($9.95) with red beans/rice. He enjoyed the selection. They have a full bar and beer on tap and quite a few bottled selections. There is seating available in the bar area or the restaurant area. If we had more time in the city, I would have gone back for dinner, as their dinner menu looked great.
