After comparing nearly all of the available hotels in the historic district of Savannah, we found that the Inn at Ellis Square offered the best rates. We set up a group of rooms for our guests with no trouble. When we arrived, we found everything to be very clean and in good working order. Every member of the staff we encountered was helpful, kind, and very friendly.

We reserved a suite for this occasion and had no complaints at all. I saw some of the guests' regular rooms, which seemed to be very standard and we heard no complaints. There was plenty of room for the wedding party to get ready in our suite the day of the wedding. One small issue for people who are light sleepers - our room was directly in line with the parking garage so lights coming in disturbed my husband and we had to paper clip the curtains closed. Some black-out curtains might be a nice addition for this room. Otherwise, it was perfect. Guests on higher level rooms reported excellent views of the city. Parking is very convenient right behind the hotel and you can come and go as many times as you'd like with no extra charge. I think they charge $13 per day with the hotel bill, which seems fair compared to other garages.

This hotel is very nice overall. It does seems to lack the 'spooky' appeal of other historic district hotels we've stayed in, though the amenities were nicer. The breakfast was also fine, though very busy the weekend we were there. It was also nice that they serve coffee all day in the lobby - very helpful for when we were in a hurry!

Most of all, the location is amazing. Within blocks walking distance of many main highlights - City Market, restaurants, and our reception venue - Moon River Brewery. Overall, we were happy to have a nice, clean, and reliable place to stay in during our special weekend.

Room Tip: The higher the level, the better the views.

This hotel is in a perfect downtown location to walk to loads of shops, restaurants, art galleries, and bars. The beds and linens are comfy and beautiful. The décor in the rest of the room needs, though, needs a lot of freshening and the carpet needs a serious steam cleaning or replacing. Also, note that the bathroom is "split" with the mirror/sink out in the bedroom. The part with the toilet and tub is teeny-tiny.

The continental breakfast is fine with enough variety to satisfy most everyone.

I have stayed there twice. The first time, we had some "ghosty" experiences there. We got locked out of our room by the latch that was only able to be locked on the inside. I also felt something in the room all night one night. When I finally fell asleep at 4 am, something pinched my husband and woke him up but there was nothing there. The second time, nothing. It is a great location and the rooms were large and clean. Parking was great and close.
