We had lunch at Churchill's Pub practically by accident. And a happy accident it was!
After waiting at the overcrowded and understaffed brew pub next door for about 20 minutes – which included an unsuccessful attempt to get a beer to sip while we waited for a table – I decided to peek into Churchill's.
It was about 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon, most of the lunch crowd was already gone, and Churchill's had plenty of tables available. The hostess seemed glad to see us (as opposed to the "hostess" next door who acted like we were an interruption), and seated us immediately.
Our waitress came by quickly with menus and ice water (it was a hot June afternoon, after all), told us about the specials, and brought us samples of a couple of the beers we were considering.
When we ordered, the brews came quickly and the sandwiches weren't far behind. Nothing "haute cuisine" about them; just good, freshly-prepared "pub grub." Reasonably priced, too. We wouldn't hesitate to return!
