“Relaxingly polished and tasty.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

We ate here our first night in town and went back again. Casual but upscale and not overpriced. The location is central, midtown, and an obvious choice of locals. Loved the decor.

“Terrible Food, but good service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

Arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday evening. We were greeted and seated promptly by polite staff. The server was knowledgable about the menu and was excited to share her recommendations. She definitely had her opinions and they were slanting us towards the Moroccan salmon and seared tuna.

Bread was brought to the table. It was warm and moist. The server later brought another basket with our salads as we waited for dinner. And wait we did. It took about 45 minutes for our entrees to come out.

Ordered the Moroccan salmon which came highly recommended by the server and my girlfriend ordered the Thai shrimp curry dish. Salmon was ordered medium rare and came out well done. That may have been ok had the rest of the dish not tasted predominately of olives. The thai shrimp curry tasted strongly of banana and was just not very good.

Even if the salmon had been cooked properly, it was just not a well constructed plate. There was a about 2 tablespoons of cous cous on the plate and what appeared to be 4 canned mandarin oranges. The spicy honey sauce that the server did such a great job of selling and explaining was nonexistent from a flavor profile.

I don't understand why this place gets the reviews that it does. The food was not good. We sent the Thai shrimp dish back and the server suggest the black and blue shrimp salad as a replacement. It came out rather quickly and while the shrimp was cooked properly, the rest of the salad was just thrown together. The walnuts and tomatoes on the salad were in huge chunks and just looked unappetizing.

The server and host were nice enough and very apologetic, but that did not bring back our Saturday evening. Frustrated, upset stomach and hungry we left the restaurant. Never to return.

“Pricy but worth it”

Went here with the family and really enjoyed everything--the food, the wine list, the service, the atmosphere, and the decor. We will definitely go back.

“Refreshing food in a modern relaxed atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Toucan's takes pride in their food and it shows in the dining experience. Lots of black beans, fruits, rice, grilled chicken and fish. Their steaks are excellent as well. The food always leaves me feeling refreshed and satisfied. Their iced tea with mint is a must too. The atmosphere feels tropical and is relaxed and inviting

“Eclectic Greek Featuring Salads On The Southside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013 via mobile

This popular a little upscale sister of Sweet Potatoes has salads with a variety of greens with home made dressing including a delicious citrus with grilled shrimp. The bread basket will dull your appetite. Make them take it away. The Grilled Romaine with Blue Cheese, balsamic vinegar and flank steak is awesome. Fresh fish specials are always very good . Tea sweet or unsweetened and a full bar with a nice wine list add up to a nice restaurant. Located on the South Side, not far from Oglethorpe Mall and Sweet Potatoes, back from the street.
