“Walking distance to the main places”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013 via mobile

I have spent my last birthday in Savannah, staying at Double Tree Hilton. Comfortable room, perfect breakfast (not included in the hotel fare), attencious staff. Really close to the riverside and the central square, where you can have Shopping and gastronomy experiences.

Very impressed by service. Every one had a smile. Especially impressed by concierge Janice Fitzpatrick. Her knowledge of the city was outstanding. Trip would bot have been as much fun without her. Also a shout out to Emmett who took very good care of our car, his smile made my day!

My two day stay at the Doubletree by Hilton in Savannah's Historic District was a great experience. The price was great and so was the service. Everyone from the valet to the front desk, to the concierge, to the bartender and the restaurant service was very hospitable and helpful! The room was nice, clean and the beds were comfortable. However it didn't have a refrigerator which is a necessity I loved the location which was directly across the street from the City Market and the trolleys that tour around beautiful and elegant Savannah!

As far as we could tell there wasn't anything special going on when we stayed for one night but I found price very high. In their defense, the cost was competitive (as there are Hampton & Hilton Garden Inn) on the same block. One could argue that because it is touristy that it justifies the price but I live in even more of a tourist Mecca and I can stay at nicer hotels for less.

OK. Rant aside, the hotel is very conveniently located and staff is extremely helpful. Place was clean and all was as it should be. Hotel is quiet as well.

This hotel is perfectly located near all of the attractions in the Historic District. The hotel is very clean and the staff all very attentive. Upon entering the lobby late one evening (2AM) and encountering a pizza delivery guy, I asked what time they deliver until...unfortunately they were closing. The desk clerk said she knew a place that delivered later and handed me a menu. Great service for those late night/early am munchies!

We were extremely happy to find a Double Tree at our next trip destination after having a great experience at our first Double Tree stay less than 2 weeks ago! Our accommodations were certainly not the same. From the rude guest services rep during check in to the mold filled shower and no refrigerator in our room that I foolishly assumed was a suite, this Hilton brand property was a huge disappointment! The location is perfect, however black mold in the tile grout, on and around the grab bars and faucet area of shower was totally unacceptable and unexpected! No fridge in the room and it not being a suite was just an addition to our disappointment... We changed rooms at 11 pm and only after the front desk manager came up and looked at the shower!! Really? She said she would call us back with an adjusted room rate later, which she did. Our new room had some mold in the shower as well and the bellman that moved our belongings, looked at it, shook his head and said he would bring it up in their "staff meeting" in the morning. The valet staff were fairly personable and one of the waitstaff in the restaurant and bar area was extra nice. Overall this was not what we expected from the Hilton name after having many positive experiences prior to this stay. We will think very carefully about staying at a Double Tree again and certainly never without carefully checking the room!

We are sorry to read that you are disappointed in the hotel. We usually receive great feedback from our guests and apologize your experience was not a pleasant one. We do apologize that there are not mini fridges in each room however, upon request and based on availability, we do offer microwaves and mini fridges to our guests. We have also checked all our guestrooms and can assure you that any mold that was present has been cleaned and treated. We hope you will choose to stay with us one more time as we would love to have the opportunity to make your next visit flawless.

Based on some of the views I was a little hesitant about staying here but my friends booked it because it was a better price than some of the other hotels. I really enjoyed the hotel! It is in the historic district on Bay street short distance from the waterfront. The rooms were large, the staff very nice and it was clean.

It is near city market where there is shopping and food and a couple of blocks from Broughton Street where there are Boutique shops. Take time to go to Lulu's for dessert and Bedford's for dinner. There is a free bus that stops at the city market which is a couple of blocks away from the hotel.

A down side is that breakfast is not free but we went to the Mansion on Forsyth (lovely!), a short taxi ride, bus ride or drive away...you can walk but it is a little bit of a hike. Our room was on the back side so we didn't hear traffic which was great. You have to pay for parking but you have to pay everywhere. We parked and walked everywhere. Another drawback is that it is on the far west corner of the historic district which mean longer walks to the east side to get icecream at Leopolds.

I was pleased with the accommodations!

Room Tip: Choose the room facing the church towards the back of the hotel because it is quieter.
