“A great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

A great value, nice service, just 15 minutes to the old downtown square sections. We preferred driving on Abercorn because the of old mansions and wide streets. There is a faster way via Harry Truman Parkway. The sitting room arrangements are nicely separated from the bedroom and the bathroom section can be closed off with nice privacy for both bath and makeup room.

Room Tip: I loved the ground floor with rooms located around an atrium with fountain. Lots of relaxing seating...

Best value. Large rooms. Pool. Fitness room. Continential breakfast has waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, donuts , toast , , ect. Comfortable beds... But.... A little dated. Musty-ish smell in room. But made it work I would stay if I couldn't afford to upgrade to larger chain

This is a older hotel located about 8 miles from the historical district. Nice brick building with clean parking lot that fits the décor of the surrounding buildings. All the rooms entrance are from enclosed indoor court yard that is very well maintained. Very pleasant checking experience from very helpful staff.

Our room was in the 3rd floor, there is a glass elevator that overlooks the courtyard, the elevator clean and quiet operation, next to the elevator in each floor there is a computer center for the guest to use in a bright courtyard environment a very nice touch.

Our room was a king suite, with seating area in the front with desk, couch, recliner chair, refrigerator and coffee maker. Past the seating was the bedroom area with a bathroom area behind double doors with a sink, closet and a separate tub and toilet area.

Nice and clean overall, the only area that needs improvement in the room is the tub and toilet area that is old, they have patched the ceiling so many times from moisture repair that is time to replace the ceiling, also with age the chrome fixtures are corroded.

Breakfast is served in the courtyard that is a pleasant bright, cheery experience, nice continental style breakfast, it made as think of New Orleans style charm.

We do recommend this place in Savannah as a good value deal.

This has got to be one of the best values for the money anywhere (just over $100 for two nights thanks to a special Trip Advisor rate!!!). The hotel and room were exceptionally clean and provided everything a higher priced inn would include. We were greeted by Kelly. She was exceptionally friendly at check-in and every time we saw her. Once I returned home, I realized I had left something behind. When I phoned the inn, she was so genuinely warm on the phone and accommodating. She retrieved the item, called me back and mailed it to me. She went above and beyond her job and never made me feel that I had inconvenienced her in any way. The breakfast was your typical fare, which tends to be dull and boring: drinks, fruit, yogurt, cereals, pastries, waffles. I have no complaints about it as it is hard to improve upon without actually being a restaurant. But considering it is included in the price of the room, it would be ridiculous for me to complain. The inn is about a 15 minute drive from the center of Savannah. In our experience, we found Savannah to be less than relaxing, far too noisy and touristy for our taste. As it turns out, we were so very glad we did not book a hotel or bed & breakfast in town. It was wonderful to leave the hustle and bustle behind for this beautiful, quiet, relaxing hotel. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel. You will not be sorry. Spend the money you save on a lovely in-town dinner (I recommend The Olde Pink House!).

I was debating whether to stay closer to downtown Savannah, but am so glad we chose Oglethorpe Inn. The hotel was super clean and quaint. Service was wonderful. They were even accomodating after we had checked out of the room. Breakfast was excellent as well. I was pleasantly surprised with how spacious and comfortable the rooms were. The double suite had 2 double beds and a separate living area with couches, microwave, fridge and desk.
Location was very accessible to historic Savannah...we drove to the visitor's center (15 minutes away) and booked a trolley tour, then moved our car to the tour company's FREE parking lot. An easy 15 minute drive was well worth spending half or 1/3 as much as we would have staying downtown. I will definitely be staying here again!!

We stayed here 2 nights while touring the area. The room had a sitting area next to the beds so we had plenty of room. The front desk personnel were very friendly. Breakfast was good, has one of those waffle makers I like when on vacation. You access your room from inside so that is a nice security feature. Several computers around if you need to look up information.Yes, we had to drive to downtown but those hotels charge extra for parking as far as I could find.

We loved the huge trees in the front, and the open atrium in the middle is so unique. The room was quite comfortable, the staff friendly, and everything clean. The breakfast was also quite nice.
It was easily accessible to the historic downtown and the lady at the front desk gave us an excellent recommendation for a seafood restaurant. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed ourselves very much. I highly recommend this place if you are thinking of visiting Savannah.
