“Beautiful old building, big rooms, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013 via mobile

We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday when they were hosting a wedding, and they went out of their way to get us a parking spot (parking is a challenge in this city). The room (#321) was huge, with queen bed, a sofa, two arm chairs, and a view out over East Bay St. Julie checked us in and gave us the complete run down on the free water, complimentary evening wine and cheese reception, the breakfast, and recommended Oglethorpe Trolley tour as the best value because they give you free on/off rides on their shuttle busses the rest of the day. Despite over looking the street the room was quiet and very comfortable.

From looking at other reviews, I can see that I'm in the minority. Our room, #319, had furnishings and plumbing that were long in the tooth, and need updating. The wi-fi was spotty to non-existent. Parking is sort of a chore and breakfast was only OK. Our room had 20' ceilings and a beautiful molding on one wall. All that said, the location is great and the staff is awesome. The staff alone would make me return.

Room Tip: Not Room 319!

Beautiful room and very comfortable! Service was good and friendly. Here is the but.... lots of road noise (all night long), no fridge, bath room could use a little work. Bathroom meaning its old, shower head not great, and shower curtain had mold and torn. All that being said, I am a hotel snob and was VERY comfortable here.

We ended up at the East Bay Inn because our original hotel had made a mistake with our reservation. The Inn is a terrific old Victorian with charm in every corner. The desk manager, Phillip, could not have been more gracious and accommodating throughout our 4 night stay. Our room was clean and decorated with an eclectic mix of furniture. The location is wonderful and parking is on premises or alternatively at the city lot around the corner. I would gladly stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from East Bay Street. It will be a little quieter.

We had a very nice stay at the East Bay Inn , as we arrived on a Sunday mid afternoon the car park was full , but I managed to park outside on a meter and we were given an all day and night parking permit which was great .. The Inn is very traditional and fits in with the nearby Savannah riverside warehouses which house restaurants , bars and shops just five minutes walk away . TThe location of the Inn is perfect in general everything you need is very close by and walkable .. Our receptionist Shelia was a m a z i n g !! Shelia made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of ideas of where to eat/drink the best tour to do , best place for a coffee , ice cream etc etc !
Our room was a superior one looking out onto East Bay Street , it had two fantastic huge mahogany beds and was very well appointed in general and had everything you could ask for .
We didn't take up the offer of cheese and wine which were complimentary at 5-30pm as we went out for a walk round , but talking to other guests its a Savannah tradition and very nice by all the people I spoke to ..
The breakfast was really really good , freshly cooked eggs/bacon/grits/ as much toast or cereals as you wanted , fresh juice and endless coffee ..
When we are next in Savannah we will definitely return .. don't miss out on this place its superb

Room Tip: Go for a room at the back of the Inn as it can be noisy with traffic first thing in the morning with...

Checked in for 3 nights for 2 rooms and it was great. Excellent location as well. Parked the car in their lot and did not move it until time to leave. Julie at the front desk is wonderful she was very helpful and set up a tour for us as well so we did not have to search for one and we went with her recommendation. Phillip and everone else that we had contact with were great as well. Room was confortable, tastefullhy decorated and clean. This is an old building so the floors creak but it adds to the character. We will definately stay there again.

Room Tip: they have queen beds only and some with 2 queens. Building is non smoking. Free bottled water availa...

We absolutely loved everything about this place!! Having said that, we stayed outside the historic district for our first night in Savannah, which was a Saturday, because everything is very expensive on the weekend nights. The price on Sunday-Thursday is a little more reasonable. Staff was knowledgable and very nice. Complimentary wine and cheese, free cold bottled water, location was pretty much perfect, rooms clean. Only negative is paying for offsite parking and no pool and no smoking rooms.
