This was first time to Savannah so I stopped at the Visitor's Center off of MLK Way on the way in. Wish they'd warned me of the commercialism down by the water front. Was expecting a cleaner, more quaint place with some outdoor places to eat by the water, but what I found was t-shirt type gift stores with narrow sidewalks for the crowds that are there. Was glad to get out of there and head in town where I found beautiful parks and tree-lined streets with more unique and boutique-type shops and quiet restaurants. That part of Savannah is interesting and beautiful although loaded with tour buses, tour trolleys, walking tours, biking tours and horse-drawn carriage tours. Yikes! Overkill on the tours!
I know I didn't touch on seeing it all but I was okay with that on this trip. I would like to return with my husband who will enjoy the history.
