I first discovered Savannah some 20 some years ago on a road trip through the Old South and it struck me as one of those unusual and special places I would visit again if the opportunity arose. This year, I had a chance to do this with my family. There is a peace and serenity in Savannah, a solemn calm that permeates the place that I have not encountered anywhere else. The successive squares with their lush greenery and majestic trees are a joy to discover. Every building has a history, and the blend of old and new is masterful. This is a place where you can meander for hours, gazing here and there, to discover new wonders at every turn. Savannah is a jewel that is not to be missed if you enjoy detailing façades and getting a sense of the character of a place. We also did a walk through the historic district at night, which is a completely different feel from the daytime.
