We stayed at the Embassy suites over a long "girls weekend" recently as our home base for exploring Savannah and the surrounding areas. We were traveling with 3 adults and 2 children. We got off to a rocky start as our room was not available when we arrived well past the check in time. We had several problems during the stay although no one incident was terrible enough to warrant leaving the hotel but overall it really made for an unpleasant experience. The breakfast service was terrible there was no direction or explanation just a free for all with allot of waiting in line for a couple fried eggs. The breakfast staff was mostly rude and basically just avoided eye contact in general. We found a roach in our room, a live and planning to stay that way one. We spent an entire day downtown only to return to the hotel past 4 o clock and find that our room had not been serviced at all. Our room keys stopped working at least 3 times and there was never an apology or explanation just kept re-keying them. There were a few great food and beverage staff members the bar keeper in the evening was wonderful she was friendly and prompt and the room service attendant was great. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was ok, the room was as described minus the walk in shower? and the price was about average although we could have paid about the same and stayed directly downtown..My overall impression of this hotel was that they are accustomed to conference and group guests staying with them whom have little personal choice as to the hotel and not guests staying with them by choice or preference. This was our first and likely last experience with the Embassy suites we will stick with the other Hilton brands that we have been overwhelmingly pleased with in the past..
