“an "Ok" stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We stayed at the Embassy suites over a long "girls weekend" recently as our home base for exploring Savannah and the surrounding areas. We were traveling with 3 adults and 2 children. We got off to a rocky start as our room was not available when we arrived well past the check in time. We had several problems during the stay although no one incident was terrible enough to warrant leaving the hotel but overall it really made for an unpleasant experience. The breakfast service was terrible there was no direction or explanation just a free for all with allot of waiting in line for a couple fried eggs. The breakfast staff was mostly rude and basically just avoided eye contact in general. We found a roach in our room, a live and planning to stay that way one. We spent an entire day downtown only to return to the hotel past 4 o clock and find that our room had not been serviced at all. Our room keys stopped working at least 3 times and there was never an apology or explanation just kept re-keying them. There were a few great food and beverage staff members the bar keeper in the evening was wonderful she was friendly and prompt and the room service attendant was great. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was ok, the room was as described minus the walk in shower? and the price was about average although we could have paid about the same and stayed directly downtown..My overall impression of this hotel was that they are accustomed to conference and group guests staying with them whom have little personal choice as to the hotel and not guests staying with them by choice or preference. This was our first and likely last experience with the Embassy suites we will stick with the other Hilton brands that we have been overwhelmingly pleased with in the past..

Thank youi very much for staying with us and for your comments. I am very sorry we did not meet our usual high standards of service during your stay. I will be sure to give your comments to our Management Team. The the details will be addressed and corrected. Again thank you for staying with us and I hope you will not let this one bad experience turn you away from the Embassy Suites Brand. We can now only correct our shortcomings and hope that when you are in the area again, you will give us a chance at redemption.

All the best,

It's not my nature to denigrate a business, but I believe in honest appraisal.

-- Heaven help you if you plan to use the sofa bed, which apparently is there for marketing purposes only. The mattress is thin -- we could live with that -- but there are spring-like protrusions all over, rendering the mattress un-sleepable. The front desk sent a second mattress to double up the first, but as I explained to the clerk -- with wiry things jutting out all over, a second inferior mattress does nothing to remedy the problem. I suggested they provide a foam pad that one could buy in WalMart -- but the hotel refused. "You should have booked two rooms," the maintenance man said.

-- My 90 year old mother practically killed herself taking a shower. The bottom of the tub is shiny, slick. There are no bath mats. There are no anti-slip strips. When we asked for a mat -- again, cheap and easy to buy in WalMart -- the hotel refused.

-- At dawn, after our first un-sleepable night, the fire alarm sounded. People evacuated their rooms. False alarm -- because the staff neglected to properly clean their grill the day before, which caused smoke when they fired up for breakfast.

My husband is a Hilton Honors Diamond member. Ironically, the general manager left a welcome note signed "hospitably yours." Is this is their idea of hospitality.........

With the number of hotels in the Savannah area, there is no need for us to return to this place.

Thak you very much for your comments and for staying with us. We are of course very disapointed to learn of the problems you had encountered during your visit and our inabilitiy to satisfy your needs satisfactorially. I will be certain to send your comments to our General Manager, our Cheif Engineer and our Director of Housekeeping. We can only hope that if you travel through the Savannah Area again that you give us another shot at providing you a better facility and service.

We spent one night in this hotel during a drive from Virginia to Florida. The hotel was clean, comfortable and spacious. Seemed to be in a nice safe area with plenty of parking onsite.

My only negative feedback to the hotel is upon arriving we had to search the lobby for the front desk attendant to check us in. She was at a table in another part of the lobby with another employee and did not see us enter the hotel.

Thank you very much for staying with us on your trip to the sunny south! It is good to hear that you found the hotel comfortable and felt safe duriing your visit. We are in a good location with easy access to the Interstate, but just tucked away enough to allow our guests to relax and unwind. When you make your way by here again, we hope you will make us a part of your trip.

All the best!

We spent 2 nights at the Embassy Suites in Savannah, GA near the airport. The hotel was elegantly designed and decorated, and we enjoyed the healthy breakfast choices in the morning. Happy hour in the evening was relaxing. We played dominoes for the first time in 10 years, and a member of the staff helped us remember the rules. The room was very comfortable, and the internet speed was more than adequate for our needs.

Thank you very much for staying with us! It was great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and our facilites, food and services! Personally, I stay away from the healthy breakfast choices and go right for the bacon, sausage, panckes, omelets and french toast, but the fresh fruits, yogurts, muffins, and cereals are always good too. I will have to find out which employee plays dominos. It is amazing how we discover the hidden talents of our staff sometimes! Again we very much appreciate you staying with us and taking time to comment on our hotel. We look forward to your next visit to Savannah and hope you will make us a part of that visit as well.

Stayed here as a halfway point to FL traveling with 3 rowdy tweenagers. Pleasantly surprised with the beauty of this clean and well decorated hotel. Loved the beds and the special touches with the linens. The kids loved the indoor pool and hot tub. Had a great dinner at Chedder's across the street. There was also a movie theater across the street.
Most impressed with the complimentary breakfast which included choice of made to order omelets, bacon, pancakes, French toast, assorted bagels and pastries. I def plan to come back to this hotel to explore the city on a girls trip very soon!! Would highly recommend to stay here!

The "airport" Embassy Suites in Savannah is NOT situated on the runway, but far enough away so that it is quiet. We were exhausted on arrival, and greatly appreciated the complimentary "evening reception," and the fact that there is an in-house restaurant. We took advantage of the free wine, and ordered four tapas dishes for the two of us. The food was lovely - cooked to order, very good, and nicely presented. Then we could collapse in bed, without worrying about a "designated driver."

The room was everything we needed for a good night's sleep - including the wonderful pillows you can expect at Embassy Suites! The bath was laid out for safety, and the grab bar in the tub/shower positioned where a person can actually grab it. Internet access worked smoothly. Breakfast was fine - omelets made to order, etc. I would recommend against the mushrooms - in all of our Embassy Suites stays recently, the mushrooms in the omelets had a strange taste and texture. Sadly for strong coffee lovers, there is no espresso. However, we were able to eat a healthy breakfast and get on with the next thing on our agenda.

Thank you very much for staying with us and for taking time to comment on our hotel. We are just two miles from the airport and do offer a free airport shuttle. You are correct, we are out of the glide paths of the airport so we do not get the usual airport noise. It was great to hear also that you found the hotel comforatble and enjoyed our food and services. That is interesting about the mushrooms and I will be sure to pass your comments onto our Food and Beverage Director. We thank you again for making us a part of your visit to Savannah and we can look forward to serving you again on your next trip to the area.

All the best,
Bob B

Typical Embassy Suite experience. Clean property, clean rooms, quality breakfast, good amenities, and helpful staff. Somewhat of an issue with the A/C unit located in the bedroom suite interrupting peaceful sleep. No security safe located in the room, but safety deposit box located at front desk. Hotel is located about 15 miles from the downtown area, but is quickly accessible by expressway. Convenient shopping and restaurant choices in the local area.
