“Beautiful Rooms in the heart of the historic district”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

We have stayed at the Dresser Palmer House twice and found the rooms clean, georgeous antique furniture, and within walking distance of most of the historic sites and parks. The breakfasts are delicious - variety of dishes, prepared to fit our dietary needs - vegetarian, non-dairy. The staff makes every effort to be helpful and accommodating of every need. Would stay there again!

The Dresser Palmer House is a FABULOUS destination for anyone looking for something "outside the box" or something that is "vintage Savannah." Innkeeper Shannon Blackburn will bend over backwards to ensure her guests have an enjoyable, relaxing and memorable visit. Her attention to detail is noticed throughout the property's wonderful decore, the gourmet food service, the southern hospitality and even the amaretto-scented bath towels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor that opens onto the shared veranda overlooking the courtyard! Ha...

My wife and I stayed at the DPH on September 11 and 12, 2012. The main house was well appointed and a wonderful place to relax in the evening after a long day of site-seeing. Our room was named "Wistera" and is located in the basement accessible from outside the main house. The room, like the rest of the house, was well appointed and very nice. The downside is that it has no window, other than a small one in the door, and a loud humidifier in the corner that is very much needed to keep the humidity down to a level that is almost tolerable. It however drains into a bucket that when full causes the humidifier to kick off. Empting it at 3:00 in the morning to get the humidifier running again was not what I expected. The other downside is parking, there are only four spaces on the property. Off-site parking is available a block away but within easy walking distance.

The vist would have been perfect if not for the humidity level and the constant emptying of the humidifier bucket. I rated "sleep quality" as poor becuase it was impossible to sleep with the humidifier turned off due to the high humidity, and with it on the loud fan kept me awake.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without a humidifier.

My wife and I stayed here for one night. This is a very friendly place. The house itself is beautiful and furnished in period pieces that take you back to another time. Our room was off of a beautiful back courtyard. The room itself was not real fancy, but the bathroom was gorgeous with marble tiles and a huge shower. The owner said it was recently remodeled. The bed was pretty squeaky, which my wife was not wild about.

The location is great. A short walk to Forsyth Park, Clary's, and not too far to Broughton Street.

They have a nice afternoon cordial, with your choice of 4 wines, 2 red and 2 white. They also had some snacks which were a good holdover before we walked to dinner.

Breakfast was stuffed French Toast with bacon on the side which was terrific - a few more calories that my normal bran cereal in the morning, but, what the heck, you have to live sometime.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay here. The place is very reasonable compared to comparable B&B's in Savannah, has a great location, has a real B&B atmosphere, and excellent host.

I have now stayed at the Dresser Palmer house three times in one year. This is the place to be. The food and accomodations are amazing. The staff assist in any way they can. Shannon and the others do their best to make your stay all it can be. Each person is friendly and genuine in their desire to help you have a glorious stay in Savannah.I have already booked for next year.

We toured the Dresser-palmer House last year on a whim; we were dissatisfied with the b+b where we were staying. They were welcoming and accomodating, touring the entire building and guest rooms. This intrigued us, so we stayed this year. The building and furnishings are georgious, the common rooms comfortable, the guest rooms are very comfortable, clean, well furnished and decorated. There are semi-private outdoor seating areas scattered throughout the grounds. The breakfasts are all home made full breakfasts; no hard boiled eggs or frozen waffles here! The staff are all friendly, informal but professional and extremely approachable.
We will definately return and are recommending this b+b to all planning to visit Savannah overnight.

Room Tip: all the rooms are good, go on the website and choose that way

We had a truly memorable stay at Dresser-Palmer B&B. Shannon was a gracious host and very helpful with things to do & see around town. The B&B was beautifully decorated (great bathrooms) and the breakfasts were delicious. Also enjoyed the afternoon "happy hour" with yummy appetisers, sitting on the lovely front porch with the other guests. One of the best places we have ever stayed in and would certainly look forward to coming back one day, as Savannah is such a beautiful place and walking its many squares was an experience we won't forget soon.
