We just returned from a four night stay at the Amethyst Inn. We arrived as strangers and felt like we left as old friends of the innkeepers, Jane and Rocky. They are wonderful hosts and made what would have been a great time in Savannah, exceptional. The breakfasts were abundant and Jane easily accomodated my vegetarian preferences. They provided homemade cakes, omelets and fresh fruit (try it with the local fig vinegar- delicious!) We stayed in the Magnolia Room which has a king size bed. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very quiet, even as breakfast was being prepared and served downstairs. Rocky mapped out walks for us and he and Jane made daily suggestions on what to see and do. What most impressed us were the extra touches like making all of our tour and dinner reservations. We were seated at the restaurants' best tables and in one case, even offered a complimentary appetizer. In the afternoons when it got hot, we sat outside on the lovely side patio, reading The Book as its referred to in Savannah(Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil) and munching on Jane's homemade candy. Yes, a different type of homemade candy which they put out each afternoon. We fell in love with Savannah and a large part of that is due to this wonderful B&B. We have stayed at B&B's all over the world, and our experience at Amethyst Inn, has simply been the best we've ever had. We can't wait to go back!
