A friend and I went to Troy Mediterranean for lunch today and really enjoyed the whole experience. From the moment you enter you see beautiful scenic paintings on the walls and interior of the restaurant, followed by a delicious smell of herbs, roasting meats and fresh vegetables. This place would be excellent for romantic dining in the evening. It sits in a little strip of stores on the east side of Abercorn--very unassuming and perhaps a little bland...but if you take a chance and just walk in, well, you will get your reward: beautiful rooms, attentive and friendly staff, delicious food, and great cappuccino! My friend started with a cappuccino and she told me the taste was very authentic (she's been to Italy many times and loves the coffee). I ordered the baba ganoush and was well pleased with the portion, appearance AND the creamy texture and flavor, as well as the warm pita bread. My House Salad (actually a Greek Salad) can be ordered with many kinds of meat, but I chose the chicken kabobs and SO glad I did: marinated & tasty, tender and grilled over open flame, the perfect accompaniment to the HUGE salad; fresh crispy romaine, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, black olives and a wonderfully salty feta cheese--not overwhelmed with dressing either, just enough! The waiter offered freshly ground pepper from the mill for the salad, and that only added to the array of flavors. My friend had the BIG gyro (the photo is taken at an angle to show the inside, so it may look small, but it's not), served with crispy golden fries with light seasoning, and a cup of bean soup, all at a good price. Our server was attentive without being invasive, the music, lovely wall paintings and general atmosphere was so pleasant and relaxing, and the food wonderful. I will definitely be going back again soon!
