“Eliza Thompson House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Just returned yesterday from staying four nights at this B&B. The bed was very comfortable with high-quality sheets as we're the bathroom towels, as well. We had a corner room on the second level of the carriage house. It was very quiet. We could not hear anything from the room next door. The room and the bathroom were very clean.

We very much enjoyed the plentiful breakfast. I especially liked the multi- grained pancakes! Breakfast choices included: eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, grits, cereal, casserole, home fries, muffins, toast, etc. you could eat out in the garden or in an enclosed porch.

We enjoyed the wine and appetizers in the early evening that were served in the parlor followed by dessert and coffee afterwards.

The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

The best part of this B&B is it's location. It is located on a quiet neighborhood street. You just walk out the door and you are a short distance from all of the attractions; or if you feel like just relaxing, head up the street to the most beautiful park you have ever seen.

When you get hungry, head to the Crystal Beer Palace. All the food is fresh and delicious...be sure to try the fried shrimp. It's the best!

I would recommend this B&B to anyone planning to visit Savannagh. In-town convenience is worth every penny!

The inn is lovely and our guest room was spacious and very clean. We enjoyed meeting folks during the afternoon tea and evening dessert. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Though I wished they could serve more than coffee before 8 am. We had a train to catch and coffee was the only thing available. The garden is beautiful and the staff during the day were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely like to stay again.

If it weren't for the fact that the price of this Guest House was extremely over priced for my little room with no window, at well over $250 a night, I would rate it 5 star. Given it being St Patrick's Day weekend I was also told I was required to stay a third night, as they won't let anyone check in or out the day of the festivities. After staying there, and paying for a 3rd night I didn't need, I did not see the reason for that at all. Jones St. was completely open with people driving on it. It seemed more to be a convenience for the staff, not for me, the guest, which was completely disappointing, especially with it being so over priced.

That being said, the Guest House is beautiful and Kevin the bellhop, and Nell at the desk made me feel like family. I spent much time in the patio, and was well attended to at all times. Breakfast was more than you'd expect with a variety of hot and cold foods. Only improvement I could see on food would be if they offered a variety of salad with the wine in the evenings instead of the exact same pasta salad each night.

I would stay again, but not during a holiday weekend in hopes for a lower price and a room with a window, as the rest of the rooms except mine seemed to have. As others have mentioned...location could not have been better. Even traveling alone I felt very safe walking to and from even after dark.

The inn is a charming historic home on a quiet street. The living room and garden are lovely. Our room was small. The thick dust build up on the blinds was disgusting. The desk staff wasn't particularly helpful for picking restaurants. It is nice that they offer wine and cheese, dessert and coffee and breakfast. However the food wasn't very good. I'll try somewhere else the next time we visit Savannah.

This is a beautiful place to stay. We had the largest room which was very nice. Our shower lost hot water and went to freezing cold several times during the week. Old plumbing I guess. If you are afraid of ghosts - beware as there is a ghost living here and he does like to hang out with the guests. Breakfast was a bit cold because you eat in the courtyard behind the gates. It's not super cold, but it's not warm either. Good food, biscuits were delightful and fluffy. Best ever. Nice staff. Nightly wine and cheese reception and later coffee and dessert. Turn-down service was very nice. All in all, a great stay. Beautiful area too.

Room Tip: Ask for the largest room if you are staying for more than 2 days. No room noise for us as the house...

Great place. This was a return trip for us and we'll return next time we visit Savannah. The location is perfect. Located in the heart of the historic district. Within an easy walk of all the major attractions. The staff does a wonderful job in helping with any questions or special requests you may have.

We stayed only two nights here and really love the place. It was located on the most beautiful street and convenient to all the squares in Savannah. We didn't really need a car and parked on the street for $12. We found the staff to be very nice and attentive. Wine and cheese in the afternoon and great desserts in the evening. All in a beautiful old and well maintained B&B.
