We weren't sure what to expect but we heard that you could buy a "bucket of oysters" for $15.99, that is all we need to hear. We found the place right on the waterfront. It was a big dark and a bit beer smelly....almost seemed like I wanted a rag to clean off our table. There weren't too many people in there but it was a bit "off hours". We decided to stay (for the oysters) and ordered a beer. The oysters arrived in a large bucket, estimated to be between 2 1/2 -3 dozen oysters, there were at least that many. They were nice and cold, big and beautiful. We are used to Wellfleet oysters which are very easy to open. These oysters were tough, I had to stand up to wedge a few of them and we gave one unwilling oyster to the bartender who opened it without scrunching up his face. We are very fussy oyster eaters and these oysters were fantastic. We loved our experience. We didn't order anything else as that filled us up. We walked by later in the day (to use the bathroom) and the place was packed with happy oyster eaters and beer drinkers. Our visit to Bernie's was really great.
