We had checked this little tavern out on our first day in Savannah based on TA reviews ~ as mentioned, it is a cozy and dark bar/restaurant on the lower (basement) level of The Olde Pink House. Beautiful bar, a number of small tables and fireplace seating as well. Same menu as the more opulent and formal upstairs OPH but with less "fuss". We had dinner reservations elsewhere that evening but decided we'd definitely come back the next evening (Friday). You cannot reserve here so it is suggested you arrive shortly after opening or be prepared for a bit of a wait. We arrived around 6:30ish, it was very busy but we were able to get a spot at the bar after just a few minutes and opted to stay there rather than wait for a table ~ besides which we often prefer sitting at the bar. Nice selection of wine, beer and cocktails. Friendly well informed staff and equally friendly patrons. Had a glass of wine and beer while we checked out the menu. We shared goat cheese stuffed artichoke fritters with red pepper & honey mustard sauces - very yummy starter!! Although people rave about the crispy scored flounder (folks on either side of us had - one loved, one was disappointed), we opted for the crab stuffed grouper, white wine lemon sauce, mixed beans and the most decadent bacon buttermilk whipped potatoes and a bottle of sauv blanc. It was absolutely delicious!
I would definitely not hesitate recommending a meal here if you like a more intimate casual atmosphere with delicious fare and great service.
