“Nice hotel, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Nice big room, very clean, and comfortable. Lovely and very helpful check in staff, just a shame about the lacklustre breakfast staff. Food was fine and plentiful, but the Saturday morning staff looked tired and fed up, not a smile in sight, a bit of a sad start to our first day of sunshine.
Great location, pleasant walk down to the riverside for lots of dining choices, and a short stroll from Forsythe Park.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Country Inn & Suites-Savannah Historic. It comes as a great surprise that you were not greeted by smiling faces during breakfast hours. The breakfast staff is normally one of most enthusiastic departments in the building.
I will be sure to look into factors leading to a less than fantastic overall experience. We hope to see you again in your travels to the Savannah area.

Clean rooms at an affordable price for this beautiful historic area. Good breakfast buffet, included in price of room, with gracious, helpful service staff. Our reservations were booked incorrectly by an on-line booking agent. However, hotel staff assisted in making corrections even though this wasn't part of their job. Fresh baked cookies every afternoon! Great hospitality from all employees!

We arrived early from Virginia to a bubbly gal with a warm personality and helpful nature. She sent us on a walk with a map and we had no trouble occupying our time for a few hours. When we returned, Craig checked us in. We could barely hear him and when we checked our credit card statements we were charged $360 more for both of our rooms. He didn't seem to care about our situation as he threw on his bookbag and took off. The next gal at the desk wasn't of much help either. Finally, our friendly girl from the beginning was back and we were able to get the charges settled. Note to all, a little bit of customer service goes a long way.
Brenda at breakfast was a doll. We loved how much she seems to love what she's doing.
Hotel was clean and comfortable enough. Perfect location for us as we enjoyed the mile or so walk to the river and the closeness in the other direction to Forsyth Park.
Beautiful weather and excellent place to spend Easter. Looking very forward to our next trip!

This was a girlfriends weekend in Historic Savannah. Check in was a breeze the front desk staff was friendly. We were put on the ground floor across from the vending machine, which spilled out ice all night long. The breakfast room was constantly out of coffee and creamer, trash was left sitting on the counter at the coffee station and the attendants working there walked by it several times and didn't bother with it. Saturday and Sunday mornings we were treated Stryofoam plates and cups and plastic utensils as the staff said it was easier than using the dishes we used on a weekday. Our room was left unattended and I had to call at 4pm to find out when we could expect at least clean towels. After a day walking in the rain, we both wanted a hot shower, no hot water and no towels. Disappointing.
I've stayed in other Country Inn & Suites that were better organized and maintained than this was. It wasn't a bad location or a bad hotel, it just needs some leadership.

Room Tip: Ask that the ice machine is not across from your room.

Dear CarolQ;

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Please note that Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest days at our property. We take several precautions to keep up with the influx of guests we service. Our breakfast hours are extended beyond the typical Country Inn & Suites standard you may have encountered throughout your travels. Tip: November –February / Sunday-Thursday is traditionally a great time to visit Savannah and avoid the hustle and bustle at your leisure. We appreciate the feedback; as we work fearlessly to deliver a great guest experience.

I truly enjoyed out stay at Savannah's Country Inn and Suites. The room was very clean and spacious. It was just a short walking distance from Forsyth Park. Parking was easy, as a public garage is located directly accross thenstreet. As an FYI, If you want to be close to the riverfront attractions, I suggest looking elsewhere as the walk was a 1-2 miles (but definitely do-able). Otherwise, everything was great.

Note: if you request a top floor room, the ceilings will be vaulted.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor for vaulted ceilings!

Dear kristina5090:

I am delighted to hear that we met your cleanliness standards and you were pleased with your stay at our facility. While we are located 0.5 miles from the river we offer a quieter location that allows guests to see more of the historic downtown area as they walk towards the attractions on and around Bay Street”. There are several other transportation options such as the DOT shuttle, petty cabs, carriages, segways, etc.

This was a nice place to stay if you don't mind driving to town to do your sightseeing. Fresh cookies were always available, that was a nice touch. Also great continental breakfast. Friendly staff and very large room.

The hotel is in a good location in the city. It's on the western edge of the historic district but Savannah is very compact and walkable. The hotel breakfast was pretty good and it changed a little every day so we had some variety. The hotel charges $12 per night for parking and allows guests to park in the Liberty Street garage right next door. We stayed 3 nights, March 6 - 8, and didn't drive our rental car until we left Savannah so I can't comment on weekend night access to the garage, which I've heard was an issue from other reviewers on this site. On our last night in the hotel we experienced a lot of noise from very rude guests staying in rooms next to ours but we didn't complain because we were checking out. I did comment on the noise when I filled out a survey and the hotel e-mailed me to apologize, so if I had complained about the noise in the hotel, the staff probably would have handled it well.

Room Tip: Ask for an interior or courtyard room away from Montgomery Street if you're concerned about nois...
