“Clean, comfy and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We stayed last week at this hotel that we booked over Priceline and we were all very pleased with the accomodations. When we checked in we were greeted warmly, given connecting rooms that we asked for and found the rooms to be large, clean and most importantly very comfortable beds. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor and we were never bothered by sounds from other rooms. We were always able to park in the garage below the hotel, the spaces are few and we were told for more compact cars. The breakfast area was clean, the food good and the staff were always there to see if you needed anything else and to clear your table. There were granola bars and fruit to take with you in the mornings and punch and cookies in the afternoon.
The only thing I would ask for would be a mirror over the desk area, this would make it easier for one person to get ready with make-up and hair while the other person is in the bath.
All in all I would stay here again and would recommend it.

We were very pleased by our five day stay at this hotel in September. Very nice welcome by its staff ready to please you with service and info, excellent daily breakfast, clean room and good bed. The entry to the parking garage in the basement was rather narrow for a large car and parking spaces are limited. There is parking across the street. Three days to visit Savannah on foot is a must. Do plan to visit the Mercer House (Midnight in the Garden….), Davenport House, Green-Meldrin House and the Cathedral. Best way to visit this charming city is to crisscross it from North to South and East to West on foot. Walking at night along the beautiful streets and squares appeared to be quite safe. On the day you book in (after 3 PM), I suggest you have dinner at the Crystal Beer Parlor, just two blocks away. Excellent grilled shrimp. The Pink House restaurant is a tourist trap and very expensive.

On the forth day we visited Tybee Island and on the fifth Hilton Head. Thereafter we headed for Brunswick, Jekyll Island and St Simeon Island. This trip ranks among the best we made in USA.

Just recently stayed at this hotel for 4 nights/5days. Breakfast was fresh & good when you could find a place to sit and eat, too many rooms for lobby size. I am a member of Club Carlson and made my reservations on-line where it indicated parking would be $10 per day. I was charged $12 per day and could not park in the hotel garage, had to park in a city parking garage across the street from the hotel. Staff friendly but not very knowledgable of surrounding area, coming from a tourist destination, it is nice to know you could rely on the locals for advice, but this was not the case. Room comfortable, but was not made up in a timely manner.

Room Tip: not close to restaurants

A friend and I stayed 3 nights on this property. The location was great. We brought our bikes and could walk or bike anywhere in the city. We were several blocks from River St. and all of the squares in the historic district. Our room was adequate and clean - only concern was a strange odor. We probably should have mentioned it to the front desk but we didn't, as we were only in the room to sleep. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast was typical for a Country Inn and the ladies that took care of it were very nice and attentive. The front desk staff was friendly. The cookies and drinks at 5:00 were appreciated and yummy. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

We were very disappointed during our recent stay at this property. Where do I begin? During the first day and night of our stay the hallways and rooms had a very bad odor throughout. I got better, but never went away completely. Could not figure out what it was, but is was annoying. The breakfast was very por compared to similar hotels we have stayed in recently. All of the hot choices, eggs, sausauge, and potatoes were cold and not very good. We also noted that food was being heated in plastic containers, which they should not do according to many experts. The hotel advertises a shuttle service but it was virtualy non-existent. Concierage offered very little help if not buying something she could make money on. Didn't seem to know much about Savannah. Overall a lot of little problems, which added up to a big problem.

Room Tip: Consider a hotel closer to the river.

Dear Jes4317:
I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. The bad odor you described is something we deal with intermittently in Savannah. It comes from the paper mills in town; and is most eminent in the in the early morning. The stench travels for miles throughout the city; and unfortunately lingers in some peculiar places. We have the free DOT shuttle brochure at the front desk ,and in the lobby area. The desk clerks are usually very good about sharing all the transportation options such as walking, price of taxi’s, pedi-cabs, parking options for drivers, free shuttle etc. I am so sorry that it was overlooked in your case. We list it on our website in hopes that it doesn’t go unnoticed; however your feedback gives us the opportunity to explore better advertising options for this service. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Everyone was very friendly here. The location is not right on the river, but very close & gives you great options for food. There is a pub around the corner with fantastic food. I know someone posted about having something stolen...that can happen in any hotel, so it is best to not leave anything out that is valuable. It could have also been that the visitors didn't shut their door all the way...best bet is always to hide important things & double check the door. I stay in many hotels & do that everytime. Overall, I'd reccomend this hotel for a stay here.

Room Tip: I prefer not to be on the second floor...since there are stairs up to it in the lobby, it may be a b...
