“Great museum! An unexpected surprise.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

After hearing about the museum, we looked at their website for more information. Based on what was presented there, we thought we would be in and out of the museum in about 45 minutes or less. After two hours inside, we continued our tour in the outside garden area. The ship models in the museum are incredible, constructed in fine detail with great care. They are large models, many that are 3 - 5 feet in length. They cover the Atlantic trade shipping of the 18th to early 20th Centuries and include sail and steam vessels. A beautiful model of the Titanic is there as well. Artifacts from old ships are displayed throughout the museum along with pictures and paintings. The Scarbrough House itself is beautiful and worth seeing. This museum is a hidden treasure in Savannah!

“Ship models are incredible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

If you like highly detailed models then this is one place you must not miss. The ship models cover everything from old England, early United States, Civil War through modern times. The ship models are so detailed it is hard to believe that anyone could actually build what you are looking at. They normally do not have a full time tour guide but if you are fortunate you might get their security guard to give you a tour. He did a fantastic job, is very knowledgeable on all the models and seemed very pleased to do a tour even though it is not his normal job.

“Downtown's best kept secret”

A wonderful garden that is free to take walk in. The museum is informative and something a little different. Great place to relax and feels miles away from the touristy stuff.

“Beautiful craftsmanship.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Since our boys (5, 9, 12) like just about everything, we decided we couldn't go wrong with ships.

As we entered the garden, we were thinking that this must not be a maritime museum, but once we entered the doors, the ships stood waiting. The museum contains replicas of ships which are associated with Savannah and her history. Check out details online.

We spent over an hour ($16 for the family--special for the weekend) in the museum. The beauty of the facility and the craftsmanship of the displays really captured our attention. We highly recommend the museum to gain an understanding of Savannah's history and to appreciate some beautifully detailed craftsmanship.
